Re: Freaking out a little about the doll I ordered after reading some other posts on here
I believe there are several topics with tips and guides on how to handle dolls where everyone contributed to with their methods etc. I don't remember the exact topic thread title though, sorry.
Lifting your doll out of its box should be in a bridal carry so the weight is more evenly distributed and also giving you the best position to grip and hold onto your doll safely and securely and mitigate any self injury from bad heavy lifting posture that could possibly pull something. It is quite different and tough the first time around as a new owner dealing with dead weight until you learn what fits for you and maybe coming up with your own method of moving the doll around.
I do remember some owners mentioning they use an office chair or even a wheelchair to help move their doll around room to room and specific methods to get the doll onto the chair and sit securely.
Always remember though, as a new doll owner, you want to be extra and I mean EXTRA aware of your surroundings and plan out the location where you want to take/move your doll first to avoid possibly scraping your doll on furniture or even the doorway by accident. Its always the little things we don't pay enough attention to that may knick or scrape our dolls.
I wish you well and hope you enjoy your new companion!

For more, it is crazy how 10 pounds makes all the difference in the world. I am 6'1", 225 pounds, muscular build and bench my weight (225) at the gym. I am very comfortable with a 70 pounds doll. But I am giving up on doll more than 80 pounds now, they make me struggle too much, making sessions more of a struggle than pleasure. Crazy how unbalanced dead weight with moving limbs feels like twice the weight they really are.
Again really sorry buddy, no mean intend here. Plan ahead for it to minimize the impact on delivery day.

Have a dolly on hand for when box arrives.
Remember the joints move like people do, work with that and you'll be ok.
If The doll is TPE the softness will add to handling, but Don't be too scared of the weight it can add to the realism.
When lifting use your legs keeping back straight.
Understand that all his weight is all for you. Looking forward to your journey with him.

My gal is 5'5" (166cm) and a little over 81 lbs. (37 kg) - she is a real handful, I'm 66, in-shape (6'0", 170 lbs) and regularly move heavy objects at work, so, by no means "a whimp." This is the solution that will save your back and a lot of struggle, making dressing, etc. a whole lot easier. Best thing that I ever got for her:domina_enfermera wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 12:55 am I ordered Coby from My Robot Doll, and was originally eagerly awaiting his arrival. In all my excitement, I've bought new microfiber bedsheets, body stockings for him, clothes, a huge container of cornstarch, etc. I received my tracking number earlier today, but after reading various posts here on TDF that warn against picking a doll that's too heavy, I'm starting to worry about my doll's weight! He's 5'7" and 88lbs, which originally didn't seem like a big deal to me. Even though I'm only 5' tall and weigh 132 lbs, I'm strong! So I didn't really think anything of it. However, these posts cautioning newbies that a doll's weight isn't distributed evenly have me concerned because I am a bonafide newbie!

Haha Arthur you have like 15 dolls. So FOR SURE attending to these little gal in your day to day life IS a workout. You have nothing to envy from us who spend an hour a day at the gym. You do the equivalent for sure!Arthur1960 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 9:01 am I'm 64 and I don't particularly work out unless you call lifting dolls every day a work out so it's entirely possible to manage heavier dolls,

Ha ha, you can double that figure and then add another 8! So, for sure I've just got used to all the lifting but to be fair I had a head start on most doll owners, working as a nurse for 34 years was all the preparation I needed for my hobby!Babel99 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 9:20 amHaha Arthur you have like 15 dolls. I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate you sharing this post! I'm going to read it right now! As far as getting someone to help me, I've already accepted that I'll probably have to share my secret with someone in order to get him out of the box.peachplumpear wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 8:15 am If you are female, 88lbs is way above what you can safely handle when it comes to the dead weight and unbalanced body of a doll. A bridal carry, for example, is out of the question. These products really are unbelievably heavy.

Thank you for the tips, Arthur! Considering all of your experience, any advice is appreciated!!!Arthur1960 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 9:01 am Hi there, yeah that's around 40kg and to be honest if that had been the weight of my first doll it might have put me off them altogether. Saying that you do have the collective wisdom and experience of members on here to draw on and you already have some excellent tips from folk that have chimed in. Now it's not all doom and gloom, you do eventually learn how to deal with the weight, while a 30kg doll would have been a better starter weight you just need to adjust your expectations a tad. Also I would suggest you try what I always do when removing a new doll from their shipping box, so rather than have the box laying flat stand it on end, once you have ascertained which end the feet are at, importantly don't stand it up on the neck end. So with the box leaning against a wall, carefully open it up and then remove all the loose items including the head that will be packed and wrapped in a cloth bag. Then it's just a case of carefully lifting the body out of the box and with the legs shoulder width apart (which they will nearly be) you can lower the body onto the floor, keeping a firm hold. You will then need to lean the body against the wall, dolls will aways need something to lean against when standing. At some point you will need to ensure the foot bolts are adjusted correctly so they are just proud of the foot and if your guy is going to be standing permanently then stick him into some socks and trainers. The bridal carry is certainly fine for dolls around the 28kg to 33kg range but I don't use it for my heavier gals. I do now have several dolls at least as heavy as your chap and a few that are heavier, I'm 64 and I don't particularly work out unless you call lifting dolls every day a work out so it's entirely possible to manage heavier dolls, you just need to go into it carefully and learn what works, always keep the weight as close to your body as possible so you don't strain your back. When I lift my heavy gals I place one arm between their legs and then hug them in tight before I lift, also I've recently started to wash them while having them stand on a towel by the sink rather than sit them on a bath stool like I used to. Always plan everything before you move your doll and ensure your route is clear before you move. Don't forget you can always post a question on here when you get stuck and someone will help! Good luck

Thank you koaplayer1998! Even though I've searched extensively on here, I never came across this product.
