Hey folks! I have a question. Would it be possible to use a specific model from a brand as a base? Like, could we request a customization from Irontech using one of their own models as a starting point?

I completely understand your point, durability is absolutely crucial. If a doll can’t stand the test of time, then all the cool features in the world don’t really matter.
I’m also very glad to hear you share your experience with STPE. It’s always reassuring when the standard things truly work the way they’re supposed to.

Wow, great question and really great answers so far. Depends on how much customization we are talking about here.

I have some giant thoughts spawned from this question and resultant answers so far. Bear with me.

Price already mentioned where I agree with what has already been said. I imagine asking for everything I want, the manufacturer saying they can do it, I pay and then finish photos showing partially meeting expectations to then only get excuses like "we can actually only do this, but not that" and then me not wanting to argue, and being in a place of take it or forget the whole thing and attempt a battle of refund of money. This is me being an OCD perfectionist and saying f*** it, I'll just wait for the technology to evolve.

It's why I sit and comment, ask questions, present ideas while slicing up my current tpe dolls to view the imperfections and have yet to buy another doll. My bank account can buy any doll out there but I will wait for reviews to prove out the random good manufactured doll versus the consistently perfect build.

Great points on QA, with the misunderstandings, absence of and constant demand for it! This may very well be a huge cause for concern across this industry.

This is a great idea. Even though there is a wide variety of dolls available from many manufacturers, some of us may have found a nearly ideal doll, which would be just right with one or two 'adjustments.' To have that one special doll as a base for making the doll someone really wants, is an excellent idea. You seem to have an Irontech doll in mind, which you may want to have with larger/smaller breasts than what that company has designed her with. That would be a feasible modification. I have doll in mind, which has Woefully Misaligned LHP (guess the brand...); this could prove to be a tougher modification, but if it could be done, it would be the only change I want done to her.

So, Coeros creators, is this something you would be able and willing to do?

Right? Sometimes all it takes for a perfect doll is just a couple of small tweaks.

Hmmm… usually when it comes to customizations, I consider these as the bare minimum:

Both articulated fingers and hard hands, gel breasts and ass, soft internal vag, realistic body paint, implanted hair, moveable eyes, weight reduction
And hard standing feet..

Beyond that, sculpt, proportions, bone and muscle density, skeleton and silicone (due to my job, I might not be able to get a doll for an extended period of time.. tpe will leak oil and dry rot).

If I want to customize a doll that has a mold already, then I’ll browse every site I can, take note of all available options, and compile them into a detailed list. Once I’ve chosen a vendor to purchase from, I’ll place my order and include any missing options or specific requests in the order notes. It’s also a good idea to ask the vendor if there’s anything I might have overlooked. My biggest concern is that the vendor or manufacturer might miss an important detail that I clearly specified.

If I want a doll or head mold custom created, my biggest concerns are my lack of experience and the uncertainty surrounding the final result. That lack of confidence makes the entire process feel too risky. There’s simply too much involved—time, money, patience, attention to detail, clear and repeated communication over extended periods of time, trust in the manufacturer (I trust in Coeros as my vendor), and a willingness to accept that I cannot have absolutely every detail that I want. I am way too picky for that, and will opt to customize existing molds instead.

Yes, I completely understand how you feel. Communication can be one of the most challenging parts of any custom project. Perhaps, during the process of customizing a doll, a large amount of communication is unavoidable. Only through communication can we further confirm what the doll owner truly wants. It is also through the owner’s feedback on the model that the manufacturer or designer can make further adjustments and modifications. Through these multiple rounds of communication and revisions, it is possible to achieve the look that the doll owner expects. On the other hand, accurately understanding the owner’s customization needs also requires the manufacturer to accumulate a lot of practical experience.

When you say customization, do you mean like selecting from the options on doll sites, skin tone, head, hair, breast type, stuff like that? or do you mean a custom doll from scratch, like you designing her look, face etc?

If you mean the customization you can do on most sites, as someone who is new to this whole thing I found it incredibly confusing. Its one of the reasons I ended up selecting an Zelex SLE doll as they dont have customization.

For someone new like me, options like solid, air and gel filled breasts has no real meaning. I have no idea what the difference is between these options and the sites I visited didn't have any explanations. I looked it up and found some comparisons, but my immediate thought was, does this apply to the doll Im looking at? Is this video representative of the options I am actually selecting from?

I found the customization method used by basically all sites to be very unwelcoming to newbies, you have these tiny little images to choose from and its often hard to tell from it if its what you really want. Sure if your experienced and have a few dolls already these options would all make sense and you'd likely know what to expect, but I didn't.
The faces and hairstyles were particularly bad to select from, just a small photo from one angle, usually taken from a promo shot of another doll with that face/hair.

Then there are a heap of other options that I had no frame of reference to know what it meant selecting one over the other, and the extras with no real explanation of what they are and how important or not they might be.

So to answer your question, the most important thing in a customization process for me is sufficient information and images to know what it is I am selecting!
