Head Stand for WM Doll Heads

Post by MannequinFan »

I've been working on coming up with a simple economical head stand for the WM doll heads for makeup work and storage.
I needed one for my eye display head so I came up with this...

The oval wood plaques are only a couple of bucks at Hobby Lobby...

The neck assembly would be 3d printed in 2 pieces (neck part and a rounded cap), and fastened to the wood base with #10 screws.
I'll probably add some rubber feet on the bottom so it can be placed on a counter or dresser top.

Simply turn the head 180 degrees for a better working angle... :)

What y'all think? :)

That looks really nice
I'd take one if it had a good price point.

This would be very nice as too often my doll's head ends up rolling all over the bed or countertop while I am cleaning or otherwise manipulating a doll.

Here is my 2 cents. Maybe the bolt/attachment can be changed for other manufactures.
Others might like to purchase this item for their Doll ( You know how the Dolls like too look good! )
What might be the price point, with some profit for you be?

Wow! Thanks for all the nice comments and interest guys. :)
Guess I'll have to get a prototype made here pronto and see how this goes.

There's no reason a different bolt size couldn't be used.
One of the beautiful things about 3d printing is that changes can be easily made since there are no molds involved.
The only one I'm familiar with at the moment is the WM dolls. I think some of the other TPE dolls use the same system since they are made in the same factory. I'd have to get the info for other doll makes in order to make variations.

Went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and picked up a couple of wood plaques.
They have several sizes and shapes. The chamfered rectangle shape would also work if the oval isn't stable enough.
They had a lot more of these in stock, but I prefer the oval shape if it will work.

These self stick rubber pads will work great for the feet...

Thanks Mr. Wizard! :D

Here's the prototype finished.
Pretty simple, not a lot to it.
Decided to use up some of the transparent filament that I probably won't be using for anything else, so the neck cap looks a little funky.
You can see the internal lattice fill pattern through the surface...

Tomorrow I'll attach the head and give it a stability test.
I may make a little YouTube showing how it works.

Here's the head stand featuring Begog's Vema and some little friends - makes for a nice little display!

Reminds me of that 1962 movie "The Brain That Wouldn't Die".
