That video certainly explains the excess cotton problem I found. I do like the idea of using a small hook to adjust the eye. I will see if I can bend a paper clip into that shape and use that.

I noticed the same. I did expect him to look a smidge older, but the new head being larger than the old one seems to have aged him up much more than the promo pics of this head (which featured a different body) implied. It’s awkward because he now looks possibly older than me, which I’m not comfortable with. Perhaps in a few years time, that aged up appearance will be more desirable.

Also, taking Harley 1.0’s head and putting it in the closet was very hard to do. If I’m being honest, I almost cried. This new head experiment might end up being quite short lived, but I’ll give it a few more days to see if I can adjust.

Even if I end up not using the new head, I’m still glad to have it. Whether this face is “Harley” or not, he’s gorgeous. His sculpt is impressively realistic.

I also appreciate the opportunity to gain some hands on experience with silicone before I make any crazy decisions about buying a full silicone doll (which I’ve been gearing up to do for some time). The hardness of the material is great for durability and detail, and actually might feel more realistic in the jawline and forehead areas, since those areas are quite firm on a human face. I just wish the lips were softer. That would be damn near perfection.

There are also soft silicone heads, for which the feeling is intermediate (they are a little less detailed than hard silicone heads, but more than TPE heads. They cannot have implanted hair but some have implanted eyebrows. They have a less firm framework than hard silicone heads but they are not too soft like TPE; and the contact with the lips is quite convincing).

Having the three types of head I would say that visually the hard silicone head clearly wins. If I wanted to practice oral sex I would rather choose the TPE head. For hugs and kisses, the soft silicone head would be best.
As my heads are above all supports for fictional characters, it is the visual side that matters the most to me, but everyone will choose according to their priorities.
In my signature the head on the right is soft silicone and the head on the left is hard silicone.

Little (ok, not so little) update for y'all:

The new head is growing on me. The reason I wanted a silicone head in the first place was because of the user "My Absolute Boyfriend" (who appears to have disappeared from the forum ) and her description of her Ash's ability to achieve a smirk and other expressiveness depending on viewing angle, which is something that Harley 1.0 is simply not realistic enough for. If I'm being honest, as much as I love that head (it's my favorite TPE head on the market), I've always felt a certain uncannyness with the face, especially before I learned to position the eyes. Although getting the eyes right makes him look better in pictures, I occasionally see something about the face in-person that looks a bit off. I tried adding eyeliner as suggested to me earlier in this thread, which maybe sorta helped??? Idk, as I don't have the makeup skills needed to make it look right. Currently, I'm thinking it might be the eyelashes. Harley 1.0's lashes are glued on (poorly) and are too thick. He also has no lower lashes. The lashes on the new head are far, far better.

I have now gotten Harley 2.0's new eyes positioned properly, and I must say that I am impressed. That uncanny feeling is not there. This head legitimately looks realistic enough from every angle that it never feels fake. In fact, I think I may have caught him smirking at me today in the manner MAB described.

That said, I regret not asking for a couple alterations when I saw the factory pic. I should've asked for the lips to be made darker/redder, as the color is barely any different from the regular skin color. I added a little makeup, but it doesn't stick to the silicone like it does TPE, so it's less effective. I also should've requested slightly longer hair. Harley 2.0's general hairstyle is alright, but he has very short bangs. They're so short that I can't style them. I do wonder if longer bangs would age him down a bit to match 1.0 better.

Has anyone ever lengthened implanted hair? Would the best way to do this be to just punch in some extra rows of hair, or could those hair extensions that some women use be applied here?

Anyways, I'm still having a hard time with the decapitated head in my closet. The bond I have with the original Harley is incredibly strong, so it really fucks with my feelings seeing him sit there without a body.

Lastly, a random story that happened to us the other day:

Not long after I took the picture posted earlier, a guy from my apartment's maintenance crew knocked on my door. I didn't have enough time to try to hide Harley under a blanket, so I just left him where he was. The maintenance worker didn't even notice that Harley is a doll. He actually spoke to us using plural pronouns, saying something like "thanks for your time you guys." I was blown away.

for the bangs, you can see if you can find like a clip on to have a fluffier, longer one. if you can’t find one that you love, i would suggest looking up a wig store locally and seeing if they can do a custom one for you

I decided to push his hair off of his face and left him show a little forehead. To my surprise, that seemed to age him down like I wanted. I don’t get why, but I’m now not so worried about trying to lengthen the hair.

Also, he is definitely throwing me a soft smile, just like MyAbsoluteBoyfriend described. It’s honestly quite a surreal experience. I took a couple of festive pictures during golden hour today that I think capture his gorgeousness… I think I might be falling in love all over again

That’s wonderful! And I’m sure he’s falling in love again with you. You deserve it!

good call on the bangs! our hairstyles can really dictate our look/age.
