I have a TPE doll from WM Doll (the 166C model) with two wigs. I have two questions.

The first is about putting the wig onto the head. Its easy to put it on, but the wig falls off easily. There is a strap with two hooks inside the net under the wig, but how do I connect the two hooks? Any good advices for that? If I lift the hair at the rear to see the hooks, the wig has already fallen off.

And the second question is about cleaning the wig. I've read that I can use water and shampoo, as if I would wash my own hair. I had the idea that I fill a little tank with warm water, put some shampoo in it (maybe baby shampoo, which is not agressive at all) and then immerse the wig completely into the water and clean it with my hands. Is this a (the) recommended way?

You can purchase a wig cap or a wig band which is what I use to keep her wig on...

As to the cleaning of the wig, since your doll is not running around outside all day and sweating you can clean your wig by first combing out the wig first and then filling a container with fabric softener and water. Drown your wig... pick your wig out with one hand and with the other squeeze the softener out. Do this several times (DO NOT WRING OUT the wig) Then just put on a wig stand to dry out, after it is dry comb out again and you're done.

Thanks to both of you, I think my questions are anwered!

The factory wigs are usually a pretty good fit - all mine have been quite snug.

The problem comes when you get another wig from another source, and that is where I have problems.

What I have started to do, is:

- get a cork based wig stand
- put the wig on it, inside out, and pin in place
- cut a 19.5" (49.5cm) strip of white elastic, and overlap 0.5" (1.25cm) to create a 19" diameter circle
- stretch this over the wig, so it lies up against the cap part of the wig
- hot glue the elastic to the wig

This way, when you put the wig on the dolls head, which is about 20" diameter, the elastic contracts evenly and holds it tight.

Any advice for tangled hair in wig? I have a wide-tooth comb, but I feel like there should be something to help the comb slide through the hairs easier. Has anyone tried a product like this spray de-tangler?

The hooks 'hook into' bands on the inside seam of the wig. Have a good look, all wigs have them. As for cleaning, so NOT use human products of sinthetic wigs. Unlike human hair sinthetic strands cannot absorb the multitude of oils and products that are contained within the shampoos.

As Dh said, a 1 part to 10 water of fabric condition or downy dish soap if in the US (Mild fairy in UK etc) will be more than sufficient. Also a spray mister with same solution works great with a Tangle Teezer (or similar product) as NewFronts advised.
