I found a eyelid mod from February 2014 by Samurai,
viewtopic.php?f=212&t=51544&hilit=tempo ... s&start=15
and decided to try it. His doll's eyes have (had?) a pointed elliptical shape, while Kimber dolls have round eyes with a conical shaped cornea where it meets the eyeball's sciera, like a real human eye, as shown in the following diagram on the felt pad (1/16" or 0.15875 cm thick) I'm using for the lids. I'm not concerned with the color because I'm covering the outside with make up.

I made temporary lids for making adjustments & to write on until I was happy with the fit before making the permanent(?) set. 1st, I drew an eyeball outline & cut outside the line, as seen in the next pic.

Early day tomorrow, I'll continue as soon as I can.
See ya! :glou:

Next, I put the practice lid in, but it was a terrible fit. It wouldn't go far enough to hide while she's awake, nor would it lie flat - in next 2 pics

OK, I see what you got happening, so once you got the radius right, duck down to Kmart and buy some of these

They only a couple of dollars, and some basic glue will do the trick, but its delicate work.

The next 3 pics show the adjustments I made for a good fit before any gluing to make the lids lie flat on the eyeball.
adjustments 1: added front notch, side slits, & measured for rear cut

I placed the lid marked "3rd" over the lid marked "2nd", drew a line & cut approximately 5/16" (8 mm) off the back of the "2nd" lid, then reversed the process. Please notice I left the line on the "2nd" lid, but cut it off the "3rd".

Here's a diagram of the finished eyelids:

The final dimensions of the now elliptical eyelids are:
1 3/8" (3.5 cm) along the Elliptical points line
1 1/16" (2.7 cm) front-back
For the notch, I cut a slit along the front center line 7/16" (11 mm) deep, then made cuts 1/16" (1.5 mm) on each side tapering towards the end of the slit. I cut it like this because I don't want a 1/8" X 1/8" (3 X 3 mm) bulge showing in the middle of her eye.
The side slits start 1/8" (3.2 mm) in front of the Elliptical Points Line(EPL), are 1/4" (6.4 mm) deep, & end 1/16" (1.6 mm) in front of the EPL.
Here's the lids installed, before gluing, to check the fit. I left them out a little to show how they lie on the eyeball.

I'll continue tomorrow after the glue has set.

Hey Anung! How goes the battle?!
Yup! I picked some up along with the other materials for this little project

I sure made a mess of her make up with all my "playing". Popping the poor girl's eyes out

Sure...

Mineral oil should clean up most of that, use sparingly with white cotton cloth (lint free).
