The-Doll-House mentioned in GQ (UK edition)

Hi All,

You've probably all been noticing the media storm concerning sex robots recently.

I had a Psychology Masters student interview me for her thesis, and take photographs, a few months back.
It was a pleasant experience, and would be happy to accommodate her again for any further work, but thought nothing more than that. I thought it may get some minimal exposure, but nothing noteworthy.

Then this girl gets her work mentioned/published in GQ, no less!

Hopefully the exposure will help the doll industry become more mainstream?

Congratulations! The piece comes as cross as very fair. You're planning on adding a link to it from your website, I'm sure. If not, you should! :)

Do you know if Ms. Ruthkowski intends to do any additional writing about the industry?

Thanks!

I suppose I should consider myself lucky that it wasn't a hit piece.
I was fairly sure from the interview that it was fairly academic, as she didn't seem to have a stance on the topic at all, and most females do seem to take a dim view of the whole industry.

So it seemed to come out well, from the perspective of within the community.
I don't know how well it will be received the public in general.

I'm not immediately aware of any further publications of Ms. Rutkowski, but can of course reach out to her, to find out.
I'll keep us updated of any further (applicable) work.

NB. I do have the article mentioned on the Twitter feed (lower down) on the home page.
Do you think I should make this more visible?

Hi,

I just heard back from Laura Rutkowski.
She does have another piece of work called Sex, Love & Technology

The Standfirst gives you a good idea of the for/against debate:

FINAL PROJECT:
SEX, LOVE & TECHNOLOGY
LET’S TALK ABOUT TECH, BABY…

Laura Rutkowski

FEATURE TWO: LET’S TALK ABOUT TECH, BABY…

Standfirst:
Dr David Levy is an authority on artificial intelligence. His PhD from Maastricht University in the Netherlands, Intimate Relationships with Artificial Partners, allegedly received more publicity than any other PhD in history.
Dr Kathleen Richardson, a robot anthropologist and ethicist at De Montfort University, Leicester, founded the Campaign Against Sex Robots.

The experts face off on what the future holds for humans and humanoids.

Laura is keen to freelance this piece, so it cannot be published online yet.
It is a good read, without too much feminism/bigotry, and I will post the document here, as soon as I am given permission.
