the tire companies are making the tires so the rot after so many years and this is recently. back in the late seventies i bought some tires for my old 66 bronco later when i went to buy new tires the shop manager asked why i was buying new tires because there was more than half the tread left, i told him they were 15 years old and i didn't think they were okay to keep using. no telling how long they could have gone, in the eighties the oil truck i drove never had it's tires changed in the 8 years i was there and they were several years old when i started driving it. tire companies want more profit so they build in obsolescence.

Agreed.. these days you hire a team of designers to build a good reliable product then you hire another team to design breakage and weak points into is so it only lasts a few months after the warranty expires. .!

I don't think they do it consciously, but some of them may not have longterm usage on their minds.
