WM Dolls Skin Colors

What do you all think about the different skin tones for WM Dolls ???

[I copied this image from a vendor website. i hope this isn't against the rules. just using it for discussion purposes and to help me with my next doll purchase.]

This subject has probably been talked about many times in many different threads, but I couldn't find a specific thread that addresses this specific question directly as a thread main topic.

I am looking at buying a new doll and the WM170H is looking like the choice for this time around, because of reasons. But I am undecided on skin tone. I had a WM155DD before and I got her with Tan skin tone. But I wasn't really happy with the color, it just didn't have a very realistic appearance to me. It didn't look like "tanned skin", it just looked like tan colored rubber. I found myself wishing I had selected a lighter skin tone. But I don't know if I should go all the way to White tone or maybe Fair or Pink?

I am leaning towards Fair or Pink because I'm wanting as much realism as possible and I don't have faith that the Tanned look is going to work for me.. so a natural untanned skin look is what want.
I guess I'm worried the Pink might be weird in someway.

What do you guys like? anybody have any strong opinions or experiences on these different skin tones on WM girls?

Any insight or opinions is most welcome. I want to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions if you don't mind taking a minute to put them here.

When it comes to skin tones it's all going to be in the eye of the beholder (very subjective in other words)... all of my dolls are tan and never had an issue at least they are not orange... :haha4:

It could have been the batch of dolls made at that time that came out looking unnatural but I'm just speculating at this point. Powdering does a lot to take away that rubber-like look too. I know some manufacturers are using a technique which has been used in the platinum silicone doll world for a while now and that is to spray texture on the doll to give her a more realistic feel of skin and of course less powdering if any is needed... unfortunately WM is not one of the companies who is doing spray texture on their dolls yet.

I have a WM head in white tone. It actually has a very slight yellowish hue, so you might want to go with ''fair'' instead.

yes. good points. maybe i need to rethink this and buy one of those ILdoll Hyper Realistic girls after all. that hyper realistic skin surface looks amazing compared to smooth flat TPE

To me, the darker skin tones look more realistic, but to each his own. Thing is, you're not locked into the factory advertised colors. None of WM's skin tones quite appealed to me. So working through my vendor, I asked if they could do a custom variation for me. Sent them a photo render of what I wanted and they matched it perfectly at no extra charge!

whoa, i had no idea that was possible. that's pretty nice. Yeah, really i'm probably being nitpicky about skin tone right now. as long as everything else about the doll is good quality then skin tone is something i can learn to be comfortable with. I would prefer a slight tan if it was realistic to my eyes.

Pink skin tone has been an option for awhile now. idk what it looks like irl. but i'm tempted to try it if i order a WM Doll.

I am working on my desicion aswell and got some photos form a retailer.

I am personally prefering the pink over the fair, because i think it looks more "healthy" and i already have a pink-white doll from Doll4Ever, therefore i am used to it and like it. The ligth tan on the other hand gives it a more "sport" and "outside" feeling. Without being to dark, like some of the tan girls look in there photos. (most of them look fantastic, there are just some that seem to dark)
At the end it all comes up to the ligthing.

i've found that photos are pretty unreliable for seeing skin color. i bought a doll that looked pale white in photos, but in real life she is very pink/cream colored. [it happened to be a dollhouse168, but this could be the case for any brand]

This should help you Darksun, we chose to make each girl in a different color in our collection. This photo and all the photos in the links have zero photoshop or color filters so they will give you a very clear indication of skin color.

Thanks for the pics and other input. From those images and the way the skin color looks to my eyes on my comp screen, the Pink looks like close to a natural peach/flesh color that I would like. The light tan also to me look good and close to a natural skin color.
But I understand that these images and apparent colors can be deceiving and end up looking different irl on the doll that actually shows up at my door.

Right now I think I'm leaning towards Pink or Light Tan I suppose. But I can even make up my mind on what brand and model I want.

yeah, good idea. thanks for the advice. now my prob is sometimes i want a strong active outdoor adventure girl like Lara Croft. and sometimes I want a dorky lazy stay at home gamer girl who will dress up like anime video game characters for me. sometimes i want a smart sexy office lady, and sometimes i just want a hot sexy maid. I guess for now i'll pick one. And eventually I'll have to buy 2 or 3 more dolls to fit the other characters
