Broken Gooseneck Repair TPE
Broken gooseneck Wrap in Rubber from this part (I already cut the rubber so I couldn't return, there wasn't enough neck stub on the body to connect it)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BB94PHHY?ps ... ct_details
Test Clamp with this part (I used the screw from the previous part which tapped into this part's smaller hole and alleviated the need for a nut)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZRVFGX1?ps ... ct_details
Sold in packs of 10 so if you need one let me know. Install Clamp loosely with ratcheting allen wrench Insert goose neck Tighten bolt, but not too tight there's no nut.
Her head is on the gap is about 2", which was 1" for the A.I. Tech head mount. That extra 1" will have to be sawed off later. Hope this helps!
Best!

Thanks! Yes, I would have thought a U joint, but a gooseneck is how she was made. I sawed off another inch and her neck is now the perfect length. Although her neck motion is limited she looks great and can now sit and stand againjustintime wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 10:58 pm wow this brought back memories of the Old Days. Seemed like goosenecks were the only show in town. So all doll makers used them, they were breaking right and left. TDF was full of pissed off buyers, threads went on for months.

Interesting. I only got my doll at the end of February this year. It is apparently a `gooseneck`. I had no idea they were prone to problems. I recently had a strange issue with metal parts protuding out her neck which I have hammered back down, but I'm told I'm probably gonna need to pour epoxy resin down her neck to keep it there.justintime wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 10:58 pm wow this brought back memories of the Old Days. The vendor/manufacturer sure don't tell some things that perhaps they should. My fault for not researching more thoroughly, I guess.

Socratus, It was I who advised you epoxy resin. And also warned that it might not work.Socratus wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2023 5:56 am

You asked in a private message - yes, I did gooseneck. There is no thread, because I have an inexpensive AIBEI doll that I did not register here. But I showed my solution and I will show it again. Because your current solution to the problem is temporary (only lasted a year for me).
Yes, you're right, sir - you need a cardan joint. I took a cardan joint from an old Soviet instrument (I'm from Eastern Europe) which I had to radically redo and cook a lot. You will also need a stainless steel drill bit. I attached first to the technological nut on the back of the doll and this weekend the nut broke off. It was not possible to drill stainless steel with ordinary drills, and there was nowhere to buy on Friday evening. I had to use car clamps. While holding, and if it loosens or breaks, I can always redo it.

And here are photos of the breakdown and quick repairs that I made this weekend. The tests were more than successful, and I hope that this design can last until the end of the doll's life.

It was you indeed, which is why I quoted you cos I know you'd get the notification. It took you a few days to reply, and RevJack has given me some advice meanwhile. If you have any more I'd appreciate it as I have not started yet. I intend to begin in at the weekend.Khaossinua wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 12:08 pm

May I ask what happened that made this T-Clamp solution only temporary?Khaossinua wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 12:08 pm Because your current solution to the problem is temporary (only lasted a year for me).
Thanks Khaossinua !

I applied glue to the rubber tube, and at first everything was fine. but the neck was motionless, and the head weighing 2 kg was heavy for this design. besides, over time, the glue killed the rubber. The gimbal-based design provided good neck flexibility. Here is a short video:

Ok, got it, do not use glue on the rubber. Thanks. The gal in your video is very beautiful and her neck is holding up well!Khaossinua wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 11:58 pm
