This is a wonderful start! I'm glad we've sparked your interest in giving this a go. Show us more as you progress, and a video of the final result will be inspiring. You can even patent your work and start making some business. Remember to try using the quietest servos you can find.BigBurrito wrote:Got the eyes mounted in the WM skull, now an working on the control linkage

I think BLDC with sine wave generator controller will be the most quiet, because for such low torques you don't need gearbox.neutrino wrote:BigBurrito wrote:Remember to try using the quietest servos you can find.

Perhaps someone who has it can post of video of it in motion and we can be the judge of the noise factor. Always good idea to do preliminary tests before jumping to the construction.mark81 wrote:I think BLDC with sine wave generator controller will be the most quiet, because for such low torques you don't need gearbox.neutrino wrote:BigBurrito wrote:Remember to try using the quietest servos you can find.

With microstepping it's as smooth as precisely you can generate sine wave voltage across each step.
However I don't think BigBurrito will change his setup at this moment, there are things with higher priority.

Yeah, they seem quiet enough. BigBurrito, if you are reading this you might want to consider using these servos. Might as well use the right ones from the start.mark81 wrote:

Looks like great progress, but are you trying to operate the jaws as well as the eyes? You seem to have a lot of gadgets in the lower half of the head. Are you sure there will be room for the mouth sleeve (which I think I do see might be impeded somewhat)?BigBurrito wrote:Getting the control linkage and servo mock- up

Maybe make some videos of how it goes now? Do you have some proof of concept at this moment already?BigBurrito wrote:Sorry for the blurry pic, also i have nothing in the way of the sleeve, it slips in as usual, but had to make a hole in back of the eye socket in the TPE, but doesn't affect the face

It's going to take some time. I think he wants the eyelids to blink too, which is a separate action from the eyeball movements, requiring more servos (if there is room in there).mark81 wrote:Maybe make some videos of how it goes now?
