The purple light is so subtle.... But what makes that picture is the stray bit of hair falling on her breast and the out of focus diamonds in the background.
It’s interesting that you mentioned that strand of hair. I only saw it after I posted the photo, and I thought to myself: “I should be more observant and inspect closer before shooting”… lol.
I often get so caught up in the lights and curves of my Luvs that I forget to do a little… uhhh… housekeeping. Pay no attention to those dust specks!
Unless you’re into that…
Those little details may not seem to do much but they are the difference between a "sterile" image, (cleaned up to perfection and therefore "too perfect", not natural), and an image that exudes the "au naturel" vibe that makes it unique.

A delicate, sensual shower of violet...
Thank you for the information about your Olympus equipment. I started film photography with a Zenit when I was a student, then with an Olympus when my finances improved...
Thanks Victor! I’m glad the camera talk is bringing back memories. I think I’m going to shoot my next set with an old Russian lens!

That’s an excellent point… and a nice handy excuse I’ll in the future…
Seriously tho, one of my personal flaws is that I’m a bit sloppy and messy. Certainly, I could use a little more “cleaning up” in my daily life. I’ve come to accept that I’m old enough now to not be expected to change… lol.
I’m grateful that a little dust doesn’t matter to me… in my photography or my life. I know people who have huge cleanliness issues, and it absorbs a MASSIVE amount of their time and energy. I’d rather have FUN!
Final Purple Post… for now.

For me, one of the greatest joys of this up-close-and-personal style of photography, is that it allows me to appreciate deeply all the sensual splendor of my dolls… without reposing them. This is a much larger benefit than you might expect.
I put a lot of effort, physically and creatively, into posing my Luvs. I’ve said it before, but their “primary” function is to display their beauty in my daily environment. Generally, when I re-pose them, it’s not done casually. With my current state of health, I’ve all but given up on doing “story” style shoots with my big girls… it’s just too exhausting moving them between shots.
But even with my Tiny Minxes, a lot of creative effort goes into posing during their stories… sometimes with just a single photo taken before changing them. I often wonder if I’ve lost something by not shooting more photos of a particular pose.
I believe my beloved X-E1 will help me with this too!
Story shoots with the Minxes typically involve my X-T1, my Fujifilm prime lenses, studio tripod and lighting. I’ve tried using my phone camera to snap “alternate” views, but I just don’t find it satisfying using it. I like the mechanics of a “real” camera. Pulling my T off the tripod and interrupting the flow of the story shoot also doesn’t work.
Now I see that my X-E1 has been waiting for this opportunity!

I’m working on finishing up some posing… but the girls are getting restless…
It was my intention to swap to a different lens for this upcoming series… but now I’m not so sure. The above pic was taken with that lens, a Soviet era Helios-44M 58mm f2. I acquired this lens a while back because it’s one of the lenses that has the renowned “swirly bokeh” defect.
When shot wide open, out of focus objects in the background take on a circular swirling effect. This is “undesirable” and officially seen as a lens aberration, but is a curiosity amongst the “Art” crowd. I’ve definitely shot photos with this lens that show the distortion, but I suspect all my Shadows pics will be too close up for it to manifest.
Additionally, this lens has a minimum focusing distance that’s just a little too far away for the shots I want to take. I’m probably going to switch back to my little Olympus lens… it’s just more FUN.
When it comes to nude photography there is porn and there is art. This is definitely art.
I've been meaning to go through this whole thread for the longest time, and I still hope I do but I'm making the move from Bookmarked to Subscribed so I don't fall farther behind!
That purple set is beautiful! Faedra's face is captivating in any color.

Thanks for the compliments pal! I promise not to make you wait too long for more of Faedra. She gets bitey when she’s neglected…
As for the rest of you… the girls are almost ready…

We love seeing how your photography keeps getting better!
Thanks Jenny! I guess having FUN pays dividends… sometimes… lol. Time will tell if my latest experiments will be good or not!

I got a color changing led bulb yesterday… so many possibilities…
Lighting for photography has always been a weak spot for me. This stretches all the way back to my childhood. I’ve mentioned before that my father brought cameras into my life, and that he wasn’t particularly skilled at the art. We did plenty of macro photos using flashes and it wasn’t uncommon for me to get an entire roll of film back with not a single useable slide… all the exposures were bad.
In my early days of digital photography, I bought a quality compact camera to take on a trip to France in 2010. One rainy evening in Montpellier, my friend and I wandered around the empty city and I snapped pics. The mixed lighting around the town, with all their various “color temperatures”, produced some of my favorite hauntingly beautiful photos of the trip.
Digital is king of color manipulation!

There are almost too many possibilities now with this new led bulb!
Of course, adding a fancy bulb isn’t gonna make me better at lighting… lol. But this is really all about having FUN… right? I’m probably gonna play with the light and my camera over the next few days and see what kind of interesting distractions I can create. I hope y’all enjoy them!

So Intense…

It’s not just the light bulb… because Nyght’s skin is blue. Some of you may not have realized that.
Originally, my thought to pose Nyght and Angelique together was to get the contrast in their skin tones in B&W… but now, with the colored light bulb, I’m not so sure. Possibly, this explosion of surreal color is what they wanted from me all along???
Hmmm… I think I’ll just stare at them a little longer…
