Took a few pictures recently, decided to share.

During the photo shoot, the doll suffered a broken shoulder.
I will share the repair process.

Hello CBRF4I

Nice outfit, looks like Electra.

I am evaluating XYC over some other brands.
CBRF4I wrote: The head I ordered for this doll is the organic blend and it is a whole different story. The head is very well sculpted and is very realistic looking, but to the touch it feels almost like a wax sculpture. I would say the organic silicone is the consistency of a less sticky twizzler. Something to be aware of when ordering a full organic doll.

I have not powdered this doll yet, I am sure some of the stickiness will go away after powdering. Also she needs a shower, because I can feel a very obviously slippery mold release when handling the doll.
Since you have organic silicone for head with platinium silicone for body.
After use how do you compare both?

Also I am interested by your repair process as I might buy an XYC. How did it break?

Overall are you happy with your silicone doll? Or do you finally prefer your old TPE?

As I mentioned, my doll suffered a broken shoulder.

When I ordered my doll, I asked for very stiff joints with the hope that they will loosen up with time.

Most joints loosened up as expected, she can still hold poses, but in the next few months I expect she will not be able to sit or hold her arms up. This is the reality with every doll I own, over time they wear and loosen up to the point where they can no longer sit up. I was simply aiming to get more mileage out of this doll.

I did receive a doll with very stiff joints as ordered, but some are overdone beyond reason. The joint stiffness with this doll is very inconsistent. The shoulder joint that allows for the elbow to move in and out was looser than I hoped, but the joint allowing front to back elbow movement is insanely tight. I think the stiff joint was putting too much stress on the skeleton causing metal fatigue and one day her left shoulder snapped.

Here are some pictures of the broken shoulder.

I immediately contacted Monica and asked her to send me a new shoulder joint. After a few e-mails she agreed to send me the joint at no charge. I only had to pay the shipping fee. The shipping took a while, probably because of the current situation with the pandemic, but in a few weeks I had the replacement shoulder and a few bottles of silicone glue.

I took this shoulder apart, because I am not replacing the whole thing, I only needed one piece. I also took it apart in order to get an idea as to how it was built. I had trouble with removing the broken pieces out of the doll, because I couldn't see how it was put together and I wanted to keep the scar as small as I could.

I took the broken pieces out. This was a struggle. I tried to keep the scar as small as possible, so I had to work through a really small opening. I ended up tearing the silicone up more than I liked.

The skeleton is held together with bolts and glue, so taking it apart is nearly impossible. I used denatured alcohol to soften the glue and some heavy duty prying tools to rip the broken piece away from the rest of the skeleton. In the end there was a bit of damage to the silicone caused by the tools I used, so the scar will look ugly. The broken pieces finally came out. What a battle this was.

The shoulder back together with new pieces. At this point I cleaned the silicone with more rubbing alcohol and glued it shut.

I tried using the glue Monica sent me to glue the doll, but I was not having great success with it. It was not curing fast enough for my liking and the consistency of the cured glue is not the same as the rest of the silicone.

Instead of the XYcolo glue, I ended up using Silpoxy mixed with SmoothOn Slacker. I found that Silpoxy mixed with slacker 50/50 was very close to the softness of the platinum silicone and the cure time and bond strength was great.

I usually keep the Silpoxy in a syringe like this. The glue does not cure in the syringe for a few months, so I can use the same pouch for multiple repairs.

This is the scar my doll ended up with. It looks a little ugly in these pictures, but in person the scar is far less obvious.

I think I made the right choice with the platinum body and organic head.

I think silicone is far better than TPE. I wish all my dolls were made of silicone. The main reason is durability. This doll is taking a real beating with me. My TPE dolls had way more wear and tear at a similar "mileage".

The only thing I wish I did differently is in choosing the 163 vs. 153. I wish I ordered the 153 small breast body. This one is a bit big for me to move around. She is taller than some women I dated.

Thank you for your answers and the invaluable description of your repair.

You did not mention, did you use anesthesia for the surgery?
And how is her shoulder now, you tightened is as you wish. Do you think it is better than other joints when the doll was delivered?

Do you think it could be feasible after some mileage to open articulations and tighten then in order to rejuvenated it?

Hi :) Thank you for posting such detailed repair info. Shame you needed to do it in the first place. Lack of joint consistency is one of my big bugbears with doll skeletons and it's disappointing to learn of this with the XYcolo aluminium skeleton.

Like you, though, I wish all my dolls were silicone because of the durability. I have one silicone doll and apart from the way her "skin" is holding up, the joints have hardly loosened at all after a year - and she's been moved around a fair bit.

Thanks for posting, that some impressive repair work. I think you did a great job stitching her up, with the scar along the seem, it's hardly noticeable.

It's funny what you say about the 153 vs 163. I got the 153 and now want the 163 :) But I'm also very interested in the organic silicone pro so Nina will probably be going through a growth spurt soon.

My doll has the same problems with the joints: I asked for tight but some are way too tight but others are fine. It's been 6 months and I haven't had any joints break with her yet (fingers crossed).

Plenty of anesthesia. I mainly use ethanol when doing surgery on dolls.

Her shoulder is fine now.

I actually like when the joints loosen up to the point of being limp. Posing her for photos will not be possible, but she will be way better in bed.
As far as opening her up to adjust the joints, I will not do that. I don't like scars on my dolls. With TPE, it is pretty easy to make scars invisible, but with silicone I am not talented enough to make the repairs invisible.

I had to fix the other shoulder on my doll.

Don't even know how it happened, woke up one morning and her shoulder was broken.

I wish the scar was invisible, but this will have to do.

Here are a few pictures.
