"remote-control internal heating system"

This sounds great. Any chance it will be able to be installed in existing dolls?

It's an awesome article, read it.

I've thought about a internal heating system, and come to the conclusion that thermal blankets are easiest solution. Having electronics and heater inside your doll sort of makes me... worry. It also makes international shipping complicated because anything electronics needs certificates, FCC/CE, and customs is known for scrutinizing suspicious electronics.
And honestly, electronics/robotics, it all sounds good, until you see it and have to maintain it. I'd rather put the R&D money towards more realism, finer molds, more detail, more texture, more blemishes, more coloring, more depth, curves, realistic skin texture and touch, different more softer materials than silicone, tones and realistic shapes and not just porn star shapes. I'd like to see more experiments towards that instead.

I'm not sure about David Mills being the best representative for doll owners. He does have good points, but he seems to have too much of a "yea that's my fuck doll and I like it, and while I'm not at home banging or watching porn it I'm at strip clubs drinking beer and slapping the butts of waitresses" attitude. Not sure if ordinary people relate.

I think better real world examples are needed, like Matt in some video told about this guy living alone in the nowheres in Alaska, and the doll "took the edge off" living alone. There are plenty other examples of course.

I'm sure a West Virginian atheist who imported his wives isn't too concerned about being ordinary or relatable. A doll friend can't be too much of a conformist.
So here’s what I’m thinking.  I’ll be Charlie and you can all be my angels.  Except you.  You be Bosley.

I have to say, was a pretty good article. Not at all the usual sensationalistic hack-job pretending to be positive like...well, almost every other love doll piece I've ever read.

Oh, and I feel the need to share this particular quote from Matt, which puts into words better than I could why I have no interest in gynoids:
I think that will take away from the reality of what real relationships are with the doll where it’s mostly imagination. You program a doll to agree with everything you say, do everything you say, always be nice to you and go along with what you want, it’s boring.
So maybe I'm not such an oddball for occasionally imagining Caley getting annoyed or angry with me after all. :P

You never truly feel that another person loves you. You can only react to the way they behave towards you. And when I look in Caley's eyes and see that same bittersweet longing I feel for her, whatever part of my brain knows it's not real doesn't seem to care...

Abyss,

Matt was represented in a very positive light (represented himself well, in addition) and I think the exposure in a mainstream publication is a positive thing. I don't love the contrast that the article attempts to create with the unsympathetic David Mills, and believe you have the clout to demand better. I believe even a press-release type ad ("legit" news websites are drowning in them already) using an amalgam of what your mainstream customer's personality types are, then poured into one 'Abyss customer' that everyday folks can relate to would do more to improve your business than the tired story of the loner/freak doll customer.

I know the prosthetics have been advertised on you site for some time, and it was great to hear about their continued development. When will the wearable breasts and gurl shorts be fitted over an economically produced vinyl or ABS plastic mannequin shell become available?

I agree with Matt that there will always be a need for a companion that comes alive through one's imagination.

While Stacey Leigh needs no more fans, she does look smokin' in the photo !

Cheers,
JackT

I was trying to read this all day at work on my phone but it kept crashing...
Finally had a chance to read it and I think its really positive  Nice to finally read an article that makes my favourite hobby appear as normal as it feels to me every day.
I couldn't help get the feeling Matt is almost begrudgingly moving to develop the AI side of things, I'm sure whatever he puts his talents to will blow us away I just hope the Real Doll side of things will still forge ahead as it is such a great phenomenon and the new developments have been breath taking over the last few years, long may it continue!

I think Matts office has to be hands down the coolest office I have ever seen

Oh yea... Stacy, you are still bloody HOT!!! 8O Its a real pleasure seeing your photos, always has been but its a rear and special treat to see you in front of the lens.

Well done on the article Abyss, I hope it brings much success!

Well, as a New Jersey naturalist (I'd rather be defined by what I am than by what I'm not  ) who's "out" to the point that I once brought Caley bowling with my coworkers and have done outdoor photoshoots at my mother's house, all it took for me to become media-wary was a positive but nonetheless weirded-up work of fiction loosely based on my interview with a British tabloid. Like Stacy said in the article, ordinary doll owners tend to worry about the effect knowledge of their hobby will have on the rest of their lives, so the only people willing to do such interviews tend to be "fringe", as she put it. And on top of that, most publications willing to do such articles would rather depict a doll owner as a whackjob who prefers go on vacation with a doll than with his human wife, rather than mention that he only does so when visiting other doll owners and that said wife has health issues and thus doesn't like to travel. So it's quite possible that whoever interviewed Mills (or else whoever edited the article) decided to focus on his atheism and fondness for strip clubs rather than more ordinary, relatable aspects of his life
