They always look so much more real in the promo pictures. I was considering buying a Fanreal but I don't think it would be a tremendous jump in realism from the SLE Zelex I have.

My zelex has never been sticky. I think that is the problem. The tattoos easily transfer to my skin, but do nothing when pressed on my doll.

I am guessing the quality of the doll you purchased also plays a roll in satisfaction, the higher the quality and the more realistic they are, you are probably going to be more happy with them long term.

When they put make up on them for pictures, that is also a bit deceptive. It would be great if they posted some raw factory photos as well, those are typically far closer to what you are ordering than these photoshopped images.
