Portraits of Lexi, Nadja, Rebecca and Lina, whose head you can screw off.
A lot has already been said and written about men who possess a sex doll. Mostly it is mainly about the owners, who are often put away as a bit of sad men. Photographer Claire Bontje wanted to make a series where she portrayed the sex dolls as real women, because she was interested in the contrast between their human appearance and the object they actually are.
Through Niels, who runs a web-shop with sex toys for men, she contacted three of his clients – three men who all have one or more dolls in their house for their own reasons. She asked the men what the names of the dolls were, and photographed the ladies in their natural habitat.

Lexi has not been with Michel* for such a long time. Michel has a wife and knows about Lexi's existence, but she wants nothing to do with her. If Michel does not have sex with Lexi, she is hanging in the closet.

Nadja lives in a private bar in the basement under the house of Stefan and his wife. Nadja was at the bar wearing sunglasses when Claire walked into the cellar. The sunglasses had to be removed for the photos. A few weeks ago she got a new head (Nadja, not Claire).

Rebecca and Lina live at Nico’s place, with five other dolls. Claire met Nico through an international forum for doll lovers around the world [TDF ]. Rebecca is one of the most lifelike dolls available at the moment.
