My dude, you should sell this head movement as an invention to doll manufacturers, looks pretty cool. There are way too many static dolls for the amount of technology we have..basic movement and sound should exist in all dolls - will be hopefully in the next 5 yrs.

Ahh its no big deal anyone can do it. Basically I put a stepper motor in her head upside down and used a plate to secure the motor. I then secured the plate to the bottom of the head. The circuitry was basic I just used an arduino and a stepper motor both I bought of amazon. The semi hard part was programing but I figured enough to make it work. I just have to learn a little more coding because right now it just runs on an endless loop so I cant really use the board for anything else. I have to tweak my programing to use a different type of statement so that I can also add in joystick control and be able to start/stop the program. I can use a joystick now and move the head to where i want but then i loose the automatic program. Hence my big dilemma that I am working on. Also just have to improve the secure point between the head and body. I want it to be tighter. The weight of the head causes the head to loose its spot since it wants to drift, I am not using any sensors to for limit feedback its all programing. Have to work out a few bugs since stepper motors get hot overtime. Also have to figure out the driver I have stay within a certain Amp range or else you get into some expensive stepper drivers.

But thank you all for the comments.

Now, if you could just get a motor and servo that makes her head and neck bob up and down...
The first five days after the weekend are always the hardest.

Thx guys. Regarding the moving up and down. That is/maybe my next step. I am looking to see how I can make the head work up and down but deciding between stepper or servo. The thing is stepper are really good motors but with really high toque but the driver gets more and more expensive as you get into higher amperage and torque. The head moving up and down requires a lot of torque and power. There is a reason why EMMA doll only moves side to side. Also why DS Doll head has 4 piston style motors to move the neck mechanism. I wanted to make something that can just be screwed onto the neck without modification but I will have to see if that is even possible. I have a few ideas lol. For now I think I finally got the head bolt tightened. I will post a new video once I have it all set up along with some new shots of Reese. Finally getting her head and seeing her body come together is really something special.

WM166C can do no wrong in my book :-D

I think that there are a lot of small inventors can share their knowledge and make doll mods more DIY .. this would definitely show the manufacturers that people are serious about doll advancement.

So i think I got the interface between the head and the neck interface sorted out. I am getting it 3d printed to try out but its an interference fit. So hopefully all the slop has been eliminated. Finger crossed.
