The Checklist

Post by QUAGMIRE »

So I've decided to buy a doll. After reading up on advice in the forum, I ordered some supplies based on recommendations. I plan on ordering the doll in two weeks, but first I ordered the following items. Please tell me if I'm missing anything that would improve the experience or maintenance.

Storage Container
Cable Lock
Memory Foam Pillow
Soft, Light-Colored Blanket
Anti-Fungal/Bacterial/Microbial Liquid Soap
Silica Dessicant
Water-Based Lubricant
Air Pump w/Tubing
Clothes (No Darks)
Jewelry

I also plan on purchasing a WM 100cm and a care kit from the vendor which includes powder, a brush, TPE glue, stain remover, etc.

Am I missing anything?

cornstarch / cornstarch baby powder (I'd buy it even if your care kit includes it).

Just keep in mind how small that doll is going to look when you remove it from the box. Not trying to talk you out of it, but know it's going to appear very small.

James makes a good point. I was surprised at my 110cm, even though while I waited I imagined her much smaller so I would be pleasantly surprised. I did, however, get used to her size very quickly. And she's so easy to move and dress.
I would suggest practicing some sewing. Clothing for this size is hard to find and when you do, it doesn't fit very well.

You don't need to buy a blanket because the doll comes wrapped in a very soft blanket of its own. And though I've never used soap I would think it would dry out the tpe, possibly leading to peeling and tearing. These forums are littered with tales of woe from people who've washed their doll with some substance and regretted it.

Alright! I ordered the pure cornstarch baby powder and the storage unit arrived an hour ago. I went with Hibiclens liquid soap. Anything else?

I went with the Rubbermaid Action Packer FG 1192 (48 Gallon) storage container. I just measured the opening and it is exactly 39", the WM 100cm doll is 39.37" not including the wig. I will have to bend her legs or knees whenever taking her out or placing her inside it. The container tapers at the bottom, but only slightly. I plan on placing a thick memory foam pillow in the bottom to prevent compression, this will also keep her lying above the taper in the widest part of the container, which is 40+ inches. Conveniently, the handle has a hole designed to be secured by a cable lock. If you search around, you can find a better price. Sorry, I ordered the last one in stock at Amazon. Here is the unit anyway: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Rubbermaid-48 ... r/10569596

Edit: The FG model denotes the low, flat type box. There is a another model which sacrifices length for height. Be sure to check the details carefully if you order one. The box is big.

What is it that you wash your doll with then?
