I like the black border around the iris.

I was thinking the BoyToy calendar girls have large fantasy type eyes. That or their head size is very small making the eyes look big.

Hey RK,

How about some red vampire eyes for Nikki...
I increased the dark border some also.

BTW, I found that the color cartridge on my inkjet printer is almost out which I think is the problem with the quality.
Looking at the specs it's able to print up to 4800 x 1200 dpi which should be more than good enough using a good glossy photo paper.
I can get photo paper in 4"x6" or 5"x7" which is a nice size for this work - I'll see if I can pick some up tomorrow.
I'm thinking one of those glue pens they use for scapbooking might work well for gluing the irises to the lenses.

Yeah, some red eyes would be cool as well as the pale green like in the vamp. I think they called them moon glow.

Got a pkg in the mail today! :multi:

Yay! I have one happy customer, lol!
That looks pretty darn good RK. That amber lens looks almost spot on to the moon glow in the pic you posted. :D

Will you be able to change the lenses without taking the eyes out?

Yeah, I'm really happy w/ them. Makes her look more alive and the 3 dimensional perspective is 100 times better than the flat painted eyes.
Once I get the new makeup done and quality eyelashes installed she should be amazing.

I may be able to trim the suction cup a little to fit in there. The suction cup acts as more of a gripper to flip the lenses out than it does as a suction cup. The tip of a needle will pop them out too.

Fun project!!!

I'm glad you like them RK.
BTW, I just got through talking to Glasseyesonline and they can get the lenses clear and unpainted.
Just need to let him know and he'll stock them.
If my printer can give me decent prints and they turn out looking good I'll order some.

:)

Yes those eyes make the difference! Mannequin Fan did an excellent job on those eyes, I have his eye unit and that makes a MQ head look great, going to try what you did myself and just glue the eyes into the head, painted eyes have no "life" to them

Nikki's head is pliable vinyl? I guess w/a dense foam core. I cut 2 round channels in the foam to push the eyeballs up through then just plug the channels w/ paper towel. Her eyes will actually be adjustable.

I epoxied push pins too the back of mine which made them moveable but then again mine are in a hollow head! you might be able to move these around from the front..

OK, here's some progress pics. I already removed the individual lower eyelashes on her RH eye as they just looked too fake. Yes, her right eyebrow IS higher than the left, but her right eye is also higher than the left. I went by distance when I did the brows. I should have dropped it down a smidge.

WOW!

Fantastic job RK! Love those lashes and the eyeshadow job.
What did you use for the shadow?
Are those lower lashes drawn with the liner? They look PERFECT!

Yeah, the new look is pretty amazing over the old dull flat eyes.

With the eye balls removed.
I did the upper and lower eye liner w/ black craft paint and a tiny brush.

The eye shadow is ES I bought at Walmart. It was covergirl 222. A little 4 pack of
colors that had a couple lights, a redish brown and a smokey/black.
I used the black of course. I did one application then shot the eyes w/a matte finish sealer.
I did a 2nd coat of eyeshadow and it really blended smooth then.
I shot a 2nd coat of sealer then.

The upper eye lashes were Walmart bought and had a sticky backing strip. I stuck them on then applied
a thin layer of quick set epoxy w/a toothpick along the top edge of the backing strip. I also glued the underside edges too.
I did all 4 sides one at a time so I could kind of push the lash curve up as it dried as they wanted to angle down too flat
and cover the eye. I then painted over the epoxy on both sides and blended that paint in w/ the original eyeliner paint.

The bottom lashes on the RH side was another set of upper eyelashes, but finer hair. I trimmed the length down, but that made the tips too blunt.
They were also too close together so I trimmed each cluster of hairs off the backing strip and applied them individually w/a wider spacing.
I removed them as they still don't look real and just added a little more eye shadow on the bottom of her eyes.
I believe there are beauty supply houses you can actually purchase lower lash sets or a upper & lower set. Walmart didn't stock them. I would like to find a set of very fine lowers for her.

I also removed the old heavy eyebrows and made a little more stylish refined look for Nikki.

You can still see a little shine from the epoxy at this angle.
