Missing TPE plug repair

Post by metrax »

One of my dolls arrived with a little intimate problem.

Going deeper in the hole showed the skeleton.

So after getting a ton of TPE from the manufacturer I started machining a tool for my soldering iron.

and printed spacer rings for the handle.

Fits perfect

Next came the unpleasant part, both for me and Lady x. I grabbed a tube with 25mm outer diameter and, well, I think you know where it went. But as in real life always lubricate well when inserting.

.

Now I can easily push the soldering iron to where I need it. Because of the spacer rings there is no big play between the tube and the soldering iron.

And with my USB camera I can see what I need to do next. First the thread has to disappear. I take an aluminum rod and push the thread into the hole. A fiddly job, but it works.

Next I cut a piece of TPE with the diameter and depth of the hole and push it into position with the aluminum rod.

Now it's getting hot.

Normally I use moderate temperatures between 140 and 170° C depending on TPE and manufacturer. (Note: I'm not sure if the display on my soldering station is correct, I always try the setting on a test piece first.) But this time the TPE should melt safely and not only on the surface. Therefore and also because of the large surface of the tool I have set the temperature to 250° C this time. The test piece immediately went liquid, but it didn't burn.

After the first run it looked like this

How bad of an idea would it be to make a paste out of some acetone and tpe pieces and smear it in there to try and seal up the hole? Something like pack in the paste, stand her up and then put a small diameter stone or glass rolling pin up against it to hold it in place.
