Snow day boredom with some scrap wire
It works. I don’t know if this will do better or worse with work hardening. Not trying to Reinvent the wheel, just experimenting with different ideas in my head. Soldering the “bones” would be good in case of breakage and would keep it in one piece. Coated in plastidip this would be pretty damn nice.
Thoughts, Criticism, Improvements encouraged. I have some stainless bailing wire at work I might experiment with.

Re: Snow day boredom with some scrap wire
I've tried double wires too of different sizes, but it was just too hard to bend, even if they were not twisted. At least for my TPE-lady it would probably break the TPE when applying the force necessary to bend them into desired positions, especially from the middle or the tip of the finger.
For most of my prototypes I cut the heads off of nails to act as bones along the bendable wires. Kept them in place using shrink tubes. That part worked great and was simple, but I haven't found any type of wire that last very long from bending back and forth during my stresstests. At this point I've pretty much given up on the concept of wires

Like I said in the other post artificial fingers are a STOUT order. longevity - flexibility - gripping power is a balance in compromise. Depends on what you want out of it. I would prefer to have the fingers a little harder to bend and have the ability to actually grasp. She can grip my iPhone 7+ which is fairly heavy and super smooth/slick. However the compromise is its very tedious to position compared to the original fingers. A lot of patience is worth the trade off.
Nord, I might try making a jointed finger model up. I currently have 12g NM romex for fingers with the very end bubbled over soldered. I know it won't last a long time but if I have to change some wires now and then I can live with it.
Something like these ball joints on the soldering jig would be good.

Agreed.TripleA wrote:There has been an awful lot of progress by doll owners in the area of finger/hand repair and upgrades. The ingenuity and persistence of doll owners never ceases to amaze me. I do believe that if Dollyman25442 can get his solution up and working he has the best overall idea to date that I have seen. It would still allow for individual finger replacement in the event of breakage with minimal cutting. And those fingers are really awesome! Not sure that they would have a strong enough grip to satisfy every one. But they are definitely pose able for sure! You would think that the manufacturers would be paying attention to the progress that is being made, but they seem to have very little desire to upgrade this long standing issue!
Good Evening!

None are of the type "That wont work" just some may work better than others lol
That outer wire broke while I was wrapping. it'd be best in one whole wrap. solder ends. or leave them... could just use springs too LOL

This idea may be something to aid in skeleton repair. its small and thin. Not bulky, But still has good strength.winterwarBo wrote:I am not trying to reinvent the wheel but I was experimenting with some 14g ground Romex my safety wire pliers. Soldered some sections to match the size of my own middle finger leaving the joints unsoldered.

copper sucks in longevity. gets brittle. kinks easy. once ya get a kink in it thats it game over. Corrosion too. Always gotta be careful when stripping a little nick will make it weak. ok for house wire, no movement. but dolls.... boing boing snap!!winterwarBo wrote:Shit.... I was thinking about trying something like that
