Introductions...and questions....

I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct forum for this post but wasn't really sure where else to put it. First of all I'd like to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone on this forum as well as all the people that keep it going. Now with that out of the way some introduction to give context to the questions to follow.

I stumbled on this forum many years ago but didn't officially join it until recently. Long story short, I was in a long relationship when I was too young and not mature enough to have any business being in, end result, I've stayed single ever since(I don't lament this, as I do enjoy/like my lifestyle). However, I do miss the sense of companionship that goes with being in a relationship(cuddling while watching a movie/napping, for example). Due to various circumstances in life(lack of funds/living arrangement with roommates/etc), owning a doll was never a real option(made for a nice day dream though). However now, finances are much more stable, and living arrangements are soon to be sorted out to where owning a doll can(hopefully will) be a reality.

So for the past month I've been pouring over all the various threads/vendors sites/etc, and I gotta say, some of you guys have amazing photography skills. In the process of reading all the various topics, heart warming stories, and pit falls some of you have endured/overcome, it's solidified my decision. On the other hand...

Reading about laws involved/being passed, customs issues, etc, has been disheartening to say the least and left me feeling confused. For the record so this doesn't go off topic, the doll I decided upon is a sanhui 168cm. Silicone seemed a better fit with easier upkeep than tpe(I work long days, ie 11.5 hour day with 3 hour commute, at the office 4 days a week). I know the extra height/weight is suggested against for a first time owner, but I'm willing to take that risk as I prefer the taller stature(I'm a leg guy, -.-"). The weight, while being a real consideration, to me is manageable as I don't intend to move/pose her around a lot for photos. Looking to mainly keep her on my bed for cuddling/sleeping next to and the occasional night of fun when work schedule permits it.

Anyways...if you made it through the wall of text(sorry I'm so long winded) for the questions.

-Can/would that doll even pass customs coming into the US? (I'd think it would, but ya never know and it is a lot of money to risk)

-Lots of people seem to swear by lace front wigs for their dolls, and one thread on here mentioned sanhui dolls fit best with petite style wigs...which are non-existent to find or ultra expensive. So where do people go to buy them? or do they just use average sized wigs and adjust them?

-For the doll owners that keep their dolls out in the open what do you leave them in? I read/know a body stocking is good for protecting the body, but over that would satin pajamas or something of that nature be suitable(even after I move I'd still have one roommate, and outta respect for them I wouldn't want to leave the doll lying around naked).

-For doll owners with roommates. I feel the honest/upfront approach is the best, and as such I decided to tell my roommate of my decision to get a doll before I order it. While I don't think it's going to be a huge deal(I already talked to two close friends about it and they weren't surprised/were supportive of the decision). I'm not really sure how to strike up the conversation with my roommate(we're brothers so it's gonna be kind of awkward) and any advice is appreciated on how to go about that while being tactful.

-Lastly, any other advice you'd wished you had known in retrospect when choosing your first doll is welcomed as well.

If ya stuck with me this far, again thank you. With all my various hobbies over the years(gamer xbox/ps4/switch/pc/tabletop, playing guitar, art, writing) I've seen/been in a lot of forums over the years, but I've never seen/been part of one that was as universally positive and accepting as what I've witnessed here. It's still a month or two off before the move, so I have plenty of time to keep learning/reading up on various things I still need to learn about caring for the doll but I just wanted to make the obligatory introduction and ask a few questions in the meantime.

Start of your post...you're certianly not alone and many of us have been in exactly the same situation. If I can ask you to read our New Member Welcome Page if you have not already come across it, will give you a few handy snippets of information. As to your questions:

Heh, most of us adjust them, though in fairness, buying a smaller size wig from a specialised shop is no9t 'that' expensive when considering what you have just paid for a doll etc. it's a small cost really and one well worthwhile investing in. There ways to adjust wigs and even modify them to make them smaller, so don't worry too much.

I have 3 currently, all standing around in various forms of undress (this is usually due to not wating to dress/undress needlessly for a next photoshoot etc. Bodystockings are great ways of keeping dust etc off them when not in use.

For doll owners with roommates

Can't answer this one for you unfortunately...though would say..if it's your place...then who cares what they think, you can always find new roommates.

But in all seriousness...research, research research and ask questions. use the search function at the top right of the forum and if you can't find an answer...ask. people here always happy to answer questions even if we've answered them a thousand times before.

Nice choice for your first doll lady.

My first was a Sanhui 145. Got her back in 2016 new and still have her now.
She has aged gracefully.

I had roommates when I got her before I moved from Delaware to Michigan.
They were a couple and also my friends.
I didn't want to have to hide her so I just told them flat out I was getting a sexdoll.

They could care less. They were pretty curious when she first arrived and thought she was pretty neat.

I usually just have her laying in bed in panties and a nightshirt.
I buy her wigs in a beauty supply store brick and mortar, not online. You can find some good deals in shops and you get to see/feel the wig before buying.

You may want to check my cleaning and drying threads in my signature. For after sex cleaning.
I know all Sanhui ladies have a fixed or built in vagina, so those threads should definitely interest you.

@Maviarab - It's reassuring to hear your input in regards to the first three questions I had. I feel nerves got the better of me after reading about those issues and I was overthinking things. Now I can go back to researching and looking forward to going along with this journey and all it entails.

@gonestill77 - Yeah, I feel that the upfront approach is gonna be the best. I don't want to have to hide her, or made to feel that I should have to. I've definitely read through your threads already, and appreciate you took the time to write them. In fact it was your review on Eve that made me ultimately decide on a sanhui.

I still got a month or two before moving to continue researching, I think I've learned more about clothing sizes for women in the past weeks than in my entire life, haha, but I'll definitely remember to chime in if I have any other questions that I can't find answers for.

So another set of questions that I've come across and haven't been unable to find a clear answer to. I've noticed with some of the various dolls that some vendor customization options are different than the manufacturer's options(upgrades come in packages vs being picked one at a time, faces/heads aren't all available, etc). For my question in regards to Sanhui, after reading up on the various vendors on the forum it's most likely that I'll want to order through Doll-to but something I noticed their site doesn't have that is on the Sanhui site is the head/face #12 option(Betsy is the model name if i remember correctly).

So my question is, in a case like this where the manufacturer's and vendor's sites differ is it possible for the vendor to get that item/customization option or is it available only by ordering straight from Sanhui directly?

For perfume is there anything to be cautious of/avoid? I've read that it's recommended to use it on the doll's attire or on the wig(I feel this would still most likely make contact with her skin though). Was just curious if anyone knew if any brands were safe to use, or if there were any to strictly avoid. Or even for that matter a good brand to even look at period(been a long time since I bought any perfume for a girl, lmao)... Prefer something that has a softer tone(like vanilla) and doesn't have that pungent, chemical smell that lingers like cheaper perfumes tend to have.

Lastly is in regards to wigs. I read up on this and lace front kanekalon wigs seem to be highly regarded by many users on here. I found a couple that I liked, but while looking for those I stumbled on a human hair wig that that was far more fitting for the look I want. So was wondering if anyone has used those types of wigs and could give any input if they are worth the extra cost(the synthetic wigs I liked were 52$ and 90$ price range whereas the human hair one was in the 154$ price range).
