Have you ever though about getting him some eyelids, so he can sleep at night. They are made in France.
I ordered 4 pair and they were here in 12 days.

They are about 15$ and come in white and black. Easy to install, you can paint them flesh color,remove your boys eye lashes and install on new lids.
Then when he wants to sleep , you just lower the lid.
