Taking 3 weeks or more off for Chinese New Year?

Post by Apugo »

I just sent an email to their address for sales questions and received this in reply:
Thank you for contacting ILDOLL. This is an automated message to let you know that we have received your email.

Please note that we are currently closed for CNY holiday and will reopen on 1st March 2021. We will endeavour to respond to your query within a reasonable timeframe, but there may be associated delays.

Thank you.

ILDOLL Team
The holiday is the 12th, and today is the 8th. Do you think they just took the whole month of February off?

They look very hard-working on their website, so I don't get it.

Pretty much.

Chinese New Year 2021 will be observed on Friday, February 12th, 2021.

The Chinese New Year festival period lasts for 16 days, starting from Chinese New Year's eve to the Lantern Festival.

In 2021, the Chinese New Year festival will begin on February 11th and go on till February 26th.

Chinese New Year is a major deal.

Everyone drops what they're doing to gather with family and friends for at least a week, quite often two, and it's not uncommon for additonal celebrations and travel time to unofficially stretch down-time out to three weeks and beyond.

Every year at this time it's the same: sales inquiries go unanswered, doll shipments are either unexpectedly expedited (eg. dolls shipped quickly with no factory pics / final confirmation by the client) or shipments are delayed by a few weeks.

There always seems to be a few TDF members who get caught mid-transaction and spend the rest of Feb / early March pulling their hair out wondering if they are ever going to get their doll and if it'll look anything like what they ordered.

For that reason, I'd never order a doll originating in China from basically the end of December until well into March. The whole doll-ordering process can be fraught enough as it is without adding the extra delay and lack of attention that CNY seems to invariably bring.

Pretty good information in the above post as regards dates. I remember seeing something similar happen last year on TDF around this time. There were a lot of posts regarding not hearing anything about orders placed and the corona virus situation was kicking off to boot.

Could imagine a large backlog of work following March and April.

I once ordered during the chinese new year and had to wait a few weeks extra because they shut down. So I never order my dolls around that time of year.
