Shoe help

Post by JohnnyTempest »

Hey crew,
I need a little help finding some shoes for my lady. So I thought I would ask the experts.
She's 35 inches tall 88 cm, her feet are 5 1/2 inches, 14 cm. I tried checking eBay and some online doll shops that came up in Google search. But everything was for a 1/3, or 1/4 scale lady. Any help would be appreciated,
thank you in advance;

John
PS, I was hoping to find some heels. Something sexy sexy, that would look good in photo shoots

going to be hard finding shoes for them, good luck finding heels. there was a thread on here where someone was 3D printing heels for small dolls.
100cm and up is best for dolls, at least then you can still put kids stuff on them. once you get under 100cm then you are getting into doll clothes area and most TPE dolls do night have same body shape as most BJD

5.5 inch/14cm foot length works out to a US kids size 7. Plenty available, but doubt you'll find any heels.

Sorry John, all my shoe making attempts have been for 1/6 ladies. I still haven't made a shoe I like yet either. All my ladies of the size you're asking about prefer to be barefoot. Well... At least I prefer them that way...

Esty.com has all sorts of doll things.
Most made in Asia, but I had good luck there.

It is damn hard to find shoes for the 80cm dolls :crying:

Check out this thread MannequinFan no longer sells the shoes but it is possible to manufacture his shoes through a third party.

I thought I would go the way of making my own shoes and this video is one of the better ones I found, not high heels but can give you some idea.

How are you doing with the shoemaking? Have you managed to make any lasts in wood?

I myself try to cast shoe lasts instead. Have cast a pair in plaster but it does not hold for hammer blows so my first sample shoe did not turn out as I wanted.
Is now experimenting with epoxy and some filler material to mimic wood so it is possible to attach nails. But epoxy takes a week to cure so it will be a while before I find the right mixture.

Found a video about pattern making for shoes, the creator says it is advanced class, very good information. I already know pattern making of clothes (which helps I guess) so can not really interpret if it is too advanced, hope you can understand it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElCCIl4Cuac

I made a wholecut oxford pattern using this video

I've made a bunch of 1/3 and 1/2 scale shoes. For the 100cm doll, the shoes were 3D printed and it took me ages to get them finished, including sanding, painting, and a steel rod in her heel.. The 1/3 scale stuff is just tiny shoes and those are easy to make.
The issue with 3D printing these is each shoe takes around 20 hours printing time and around $15 in filament. So 40 hours for 2 shoes. Sanding and adding filler to make them smooth, airbrushing, and epoxy is another 12 or so hours.

So it's doable, and I even made a set for my 140cm piperdoll - who stands in those as well.
I can offer advice to those who want
