Just wondering about how much is the postage for shipping a teddy babe?

Last I checked 8th Wonder wanted $110 S&H within the US! One of the reasons I didn't get one. I mean, doll weighs less than 20lbs!

I have a hunch that the shipping cost includes the the basic body shipped from Hong-Kong to Pennsylvania.
Don't quote me on that.

I should think that's already been factored into the $800 selling price.

i just checked the us postal site and for a box 54 inches long 16 inches square weighing 23 pounds from Pennsylvania to my house is about 102 dollars so TB probably charges 8 dollars for handling.
when i bought mine in 2014 it was 99 dollars from midimans store in canada to me.

TB lists the box size as 48" x 16" x 12" on their website. I get $50.53 USPS and $26.45 FedEx, PA to VA. for a 25 lbs box that size.

I imagine, locked-in corporate rates are lower than what you and I would get.
8thW uses only FEDEX.
My informants tell me, the Babes come from Hong-Kong by Air, two in a box.

Were the dolls ever made in America at one point? I had visions of a family-owned studio/warehouse somewhere in rural Pennsylvania with a handful of employees sewing together dolls as the orders came in.
It doesn't make the Teddy Babes any less charming and lovable to know they were all outsourced from China. It *does* however, explain the lack of color and structural customization options available.

supposedly they were originally made in the USA but they had a fire and started having them made in china. i thought once the fire damage was repaired they brought everything back here but maybe not.

The mystery deepens. If you do a little WEB search, you'll get just as much confusing information as I got.
I am sure the customization of the Babes happens in Pennsylvania - eyes, lips, finger and toe nails, ear-rings, wigs, nipples and inserts. Maybe even some of the final stuffing adjustments happen here.
I do not have any privileged information.
It is not an easy business. 8thW also has to pay a fee to maintain the Teddy Babe forum. I am sure their advertisements also cost some money. It is all for our benefit and entertainment. Enjoy.
I am very grateful for my cuddly, pretty Babes. They brought me happiness. Thank you Dave and Jennie.

Does anyone know the cheapest way to ship them?

I am a newbie teacher, so it will take me a while to build up a sizable collection of friends for my Amber.
I'm interested in shipping costs, because I will be buying pre-owned dolls to adopt if I
plan to get a few of them sooner, or get a few of the smaller ones no one sells any more.
I'm kind of on the smaller side myself. Almost 5ft.
That which does not kill me.................BETTER RUN DARN FAST!!!

At least that's what I got last June when I checked. If you can get it to fit in a smaller box it'd be even cheaper.
