The vendor for my order has requested this feature for me - if they're able to add it, I'll weigh in on it, though I don't have any basis for comparison

To be extended to other parts of the body (wrists, elbows, shoulders to start with) in the foreseeable future?
It necessarily has a cost, but if it can increase the life span of expensive silicone dolls, it would be an worthwhile investment for the buyer.

The vendor confirmed with the factory that my order will include the new ball-jointed hand skeleton last night. I'll be able to provide some first-hand feedback when I receive it.
