Silicone doll, but the head smells.

Post by Drilldo »

The smell only comes from the mouth, i've washed it but the odor is still strong. After a couple of weeks the smell is half as bad.

That's a bit odd. I do find that Elsa Babe silicone has a slight smell compared to other silicone dolls, especially at first, but it's nowhere near the smell of TPE.

I just took a whiff of her mouth and now my throat burns lol. If I had to guess it's coming from the paint. I definitely sensed a stronger, musky smell coming from the mouth. I think she needs a breath mint!

I would suggest getting a borescope camera and look inside her, as well feel around with your finger all the way inside the mouth. If there is a tear at the silicone into the skull will it give off that strong chemical/glue smell. One of my Morikawa Yuki heads got a tear from a thin part of silicone, and I could find that soft area with my finger. We can repair it, but lets see where this gets you first. Also make sure to use skin safe soap or sex toy soap to wash the mouth, it is unclear from your post if you use it.

Btw there should be no smell from the mouth when the head is in good condition.

It may be the glue they use on the teeth.

I have 4 heads and only the open mouths one smell like a chemical paint they are new heads too!

It’s a strong smell could be the adhesive they use for the teeth.

Normally a head will not smell, please check if the inside of the head mouth is broken or if water has collected during cleaning. If you have any questions, please contact our customer service department for further assistance.

Yeah silicone heads with oral support will have an odor- mine certainly did until I dab some antibacterial soap in her mouth. I can still smell a faint of odor, but its not as bad when I got her.

I have two heads with the moveable jaw and i found a hole on the bottom of the mouth, under the tongue on one doll, and the other doll i can feel the jaw is just at most 2 milimeters away from the moveable jaw. some places even thinner, but i cannot identify any holes in the 2nd doll head.
Out of the box, both heads smelled equally bad, but the first head is 2 weeks older and only smells almost half as bad by now.

I'll have to order new heads if i cannot fix this.

If the silicone is thin near the skull is it not an issue unless you are very rough with your heads. It is the open holes you can poke your finger through and feel hard skull that is the problem for the smell.

If water gets in the hole will the water that seeps out of the hole over time bring the smell out. These heads aren't that much an issue if you get water in areas of the skull parts, just make sure to dry it properly. Get an aquarium pump if you don't have one ASAP to dry the mouth out from the back. Wash the mouth again thoroughly by rubbing your finger inside the mouth with soap all over. Just rinsing out with water, or soapy water is not enough, you have to use your finger and rub. The silicone is tough, but be careful with the makeup.

We want to have the mouth cleaned and head properly dried before using the repair silicone material. It's just two bottles you mix 50/50 and pour the thick silicone stuff either into a hole, or just dab small drops of it over the holes. Then dry over night. It can be in a liquid state for many hours, so you need to just have the hole on the bottom, or use small drops to not have it drip.

You should get in contact with Elsa Babe if you ordered the head from them or your vendor if you ordered from that, so you can get the repair material on the way. If the head is very new, maybe they can replace it if the tear is bad.

I have discussed this with the production team, and let me explain to you here. In the past, some of the owners reported that there was a smell inside the mouth of the head mainly because we used resin materials to make the connection part of the head stronger. A little over a year ago we started using rigid foam to make the skull, which doesn't smell at all.
The silicone adhesive of the teeth does have a slight smell, which can be dissipated by placing it in an open space.
In addition, we also found that if the water inside the oral cavity is not cleaned up well after use, it will also produce a smell. At this time, the solution is to clean the oral cavity with soap or shower gel, dry it with paper towels, and then dry it with a hair dryer. After cooling, you will find that the smell is almost gone.
Our silicone in the closed state for too long or at high temperatures, will produce a faint sweet smell, and after cooling and placed in an open environment for a period of time, you will find that there is no smell at all.

I'd be tempted to use a plastic syringe to shoot a little bit of mouth wash in there

Both my new heads don’t really smell but their mouths do reek of chemicals.

Going to clean them with a bit of vinegar & water.

I just got my Elsa Babe doll with a moveable jaw and had the same smell coming from her head. I was able to really cut it down by taking an aquarium pump and inserting the tubes into her mouth for the last 24 hours, it pretty much knocked the smell out and I haven't been able to notice it. If it returns I can just do it again but to really shorten the time it takes to dissipate this might be a way to get it to go away faster.
