The newest heads use a hybrid connector adapter with one end being M16 (which fits into the body) and the other made for Fanreal heads.

The Fanreal bodies are M16 compatible.

You can put all kind of heads on a Fanreal body, but you can't put a fanreal head on anything but Fanreal....

The hybrid connector allows Fanreal heads to connect to M16 bodies. That said, you might need to finagle it for certain bodies. You can't buy Fanreal heads separately unless you've already bought a Fanreal complete doll (like pretty much every doll maker) so I don't see this as being a real big deal--you'll always have a body that is compatible with your head. In my case, the 3 dolls i do have aren't really compatible with each other all--different heights, different skin tones.
