Cheap bedsets have a simple box under the mattress, usually without any box-spring in them at all. Only the expensive beds come with heavy duty box spring for support of the mattress. So if you have a spare room for a bed or use it in the Livingroom as a daybed/sofa idea, try the following.
the so-called box spring is easy to lift with one hand and flip over. It often has a thin dust cloth stapled on but can easily be removed. you now have an inverted box 6' long by 3' wide. There is a center strut for support which effectively cuts the box in half. Remove that center strut and replace it with two iron or wooden bars higher up towards the mattress base. You now have a large box with ample room for an air mattress, foam pads or whatever you choose to store the doll. A simple fitted cotton sheet provides a nice dust cover over doll and bed and the bed is easily lifted off at the opportune moment. If you find the legs on the cheap box spring are not high enough, just buy a longer wooden leg. These legs are available everywhere. You cannot try this with the good quality box springs..they truly are heavy and have springs and large number of struts for support.. 200 US or less should buy you the cheap kind.
