EXCLUSIVE: Phil Bass, who runs The Doll House in Orpington, southeast London, which specialises in sex dolls says he is seeing more and more women buying the expensive robots
Randy middle-aged women desperate to find their "dream person" are forking out up to £15,000 for their own customised sex dolls .
Both homosexual and heterosexual women, some of whom are married and have kids, are among a "new wave" of customers enjoying the sex robots, the industry says.
Phil Bass, managing director of The-Doll-House, one of the UK's most popular sex doll retailers, exclusively told Mirror Online: "There was a flourish when I started the business but then there was a lull after around one year or so.
"Then it became popular again and now what I have come across is a lot of female interest, especially in the past year."
"It is not the stereotypical lonely old man anymore as such. They only make around 10% of my customers. Now, I would say around a quarter of my customers are women who want a female doll.

I mean for women..you know they are actually prety nice if you go with a woman or man doll.. Its basically like playing with barbies again and you can dress them with your own clothes and get faces that resemble people or your own..Dolls can act as a companion, toy of sorts, photos, sex , roleplay, etc for both sides; Only real issue for some if* they are ashamed of "nudity", sex related or dolls that are anatomically correct, you know how some people can feel about this, and if all of a sudden they want to ban them all cause gate way drug...analogy.. butt people still need to get that stick out of their ass so they don't be soo prudish about sex and nudity since violence seems to be more appropriate then sex. Once it becomes more mainstream ? or I see maybe issues in which people may place blame on because you know humans..
Also for married groups, they can have a pretend 3 some...then becomes gate way drug to real 3some /s ....
Surely it'll become even more common, as marriages are on the decline..

Could this just be clever marketing to make dolls seem more acceptable or desirable to women?

Agreed. Seems very unlikely that 10 % of customers are only male. It just doesn't correspond with the new members here. Indeed, tons of them could be females in disguise wanting to buy female dolls so the males on the forum believe it must be new males.Willendorph wrote:I'm not sure I'm buying it. It's not like there are a lot of female doll owners on TDF. Not to say that they would need to create accounts, but doll upkeep and maintenance are complicated enough that if they were out there buying dolls by the dozen, I think there'd be some sign of it.

Also, I don't believe most people buy sex robots due to the cost and tremendous inconvenience due to added weight(?).
I just listened to a skeptical podcast yesterday which I have been doing for almost 8 years now and they just talked about sex robots in this episode but they didn't distinguish sex robots from just regular love/sex dolls. They were also poorly informed and just assumed it could only lead to mostly negative effects for most people and only lightly acknowledged the possible therapeutic effects of sex dolls.
Seems like a massive mainstream misconception that any doll that can be used for sex MUST be a sex robot and nothing else. *sigh* If people really took the time and did some math on weight and inconvenience of today's actual possible sex robots they would realize why most people would not want to buy them if they knew how inconvenient they would be.

Even IF the claims are bogus or inflated, at least it's good media for doll acceptance. Now when the Pope gets a sex robot we know we've made it!
And regarding dolls being called robots, when robots are actually available, the issue will be old news.
Of course by that time, the tabloids will be claiming robots are taking over the world!

Yea but can't assume everyone is going to get on TDF that fast. Not everyone is old fashion forum user. Plus people tend to buy knockoffs from shops which pop up like mom pop stores, I mean its a easy business once you think about it. Maybe if it broke.. then maybe tdf if they care, if not trash.Willendorph wrote:I'm not sure I'm buying it. It's not like there are a lot of female doll owners on TDF. Avg user base is somewhat low here. And you need to take into account that millions of dolls are being sold to europe/USA.. by the millions... . THese big online stores turn a very large output of fake dolls. I don't think legitimate brands sell that many like they do.

this just shows that even women are accepting of dolls and it is going to become more mainstream as time passes. The advancements in AI as well as automation will only add to the excitement of wanting to own one. This is a multi million dollar industry thats growing and isnt going away anytime soon.
Nice to see this as opposed to the terrible stereotypes that some would have others believe about doll owners or enthusiasts.
