Some photos done as part of a small shoot for the Hugs photo competition (this month's mini challenge)

Photos were planned to be taken outside, but it was so windy that I only got 1 OK shot. The other was a bonus one I took inside of the girls where they often sit looking out over the proceedings.

I know!

I don't do anything fancy with my photography. I don't really consider myself a photographer at all - just someone who likes taking photos of my girls. I actually use a Samsung camera phone (and not a top of the line one either!). I have a DSLR that I use sometimes with the bigger girls, but for shooting Smart Doll size, I've found it easier to focus and get good shots with the phone. I don't tend to edit a lot, just crop and contrast normally. I do have a tripod with an adapter for holding the phone, and for indoor shots, I always need to get out big photography lights to get decent shots!

It's not so much about the camera, but what you do with it. Personally I usually like the simple shots more.
I've got a fairly simple compact camera and don't edit either, just crop.

I'm sure it is also about the camera, but only in the right hands! Certainly, good lighting and a steady camera will go a long way towards getting decent pictures. Cameras are becoming more powerful all the time, and I'm sure I'll get into proper cameras and lenses at some point, but sometimes I think I have too many hobbies already!

Once upon a time I would dream about doing animations like this with figurines inspired by robot chicken and team america. I am so inspired now to make that dream come true.

I'm not sure my animations are world changingly good, but I'll take the compliment anyway! :haha4:

If you like them, you should definitely check out the Category C Gif challenge in the monthly photo challenges as entering them is how I got started, and there are tons of cool entries each month.

If you're interested in making your own animations, I wrote a tutorial with the help of my full size ladies that explains the whole process from start to finish. There's a link in my signature, but I'll add it here:

I was impressed by the sense of cheekiness in the first gif with the surprising zipper incident

then the next gif with the caring and loving concern from the larger doll for the shyness of the smart doll as she arrived into an unknown environment needing a loving embrace to soothe her fears. That was my instant impression. From there I realize the potential and possibilities so it was a powerful moment which has literally changed my world for ever. Thanks for the tutorial as well. I have used Gimp before but had no idea it could be used for gif creation.
So now I have so many ideas and some waiting for all my girls to arrive before I can begin the experimentation and see what can be achieved.

If you're wondering, the Japanese on her shirt is exactly the same as the English (Mirai sutoa Tokyo - store is pronounced slightly differently due to the spelling in Japanese, but it's the same word)

The smart dolls have the coolest clothing selection. You should see my wish list atm. It's a multiverse of possibilities

If the tracking is correct I will have some photos early next week followed by some story lines as well.
