It is the eternal question between participating in a very specialized micro forum where the posts will be much less numerous, or in a much larger and more varied forum like TDF where you are a bit 'drowned in the mass'.madamsynthetique wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 3:08 am ... It is certain that we like to have reactions when we post something, to know if it touched someone. That's why I send a lot of comments for the posts that touched me (mine are rather long but others like Studio, Bigchilli, Billiam... send multiple small signs of interest and friendship >it's their comments that gave me the idea and the desire to participate more actively in TDF).
The trap in these social networks or forums is to become too dependent on the reactions of others. I remember that after I posted Amanda's story I was a bit disappointed that her thread was not visited much (is it due to its location in Dolls in general, or is this story too long - 26 Word pages - for a site that relies primarily on photos...?). Then I told myself that the main thing is that I had fun writing it, then that I shared an exciting collaboration with Shadowplay2 who helped me with the translation, and finally that itashaLover and YungSynth liked this story inspired by their dolls. And so I continued to write stories, not with the purpose of posting them; but once written, why not post them?
I love this portrait of Carmen. When I see your pictures of Carmen, I am always surprised how different she is from the one of Billiam, and how beautiful they both are.

I will say that I do like more of the engagement on twitter, are you more active on there Synthetique? I'm tempted to go back. I wish the doll forum would add a "like" feature.

Re: Madame's Boudoir
I disagree, you're probably one of the best. You say much more with less. Hell yeah.
Oh, I know that feeling. The work thus far has been immensely satisfying up until recently when during a session it was turning into a bit more of a chore than anything else. I think I was mostly wondering if anyone would even care. Usually that goes away, but not that time. I think that's the catalyst for many to leave; it was a surprisingly strong feeling. Possibly worse for others. I've seen arguably much better or interesting things than mine go by the wayside. The fact that I've seen a dozen or so others stop recently was a realization that there might be a larger problem. But we find our own motivation. Like your connections with a few others and simply the joy of writing I realized that it was about creating something nice that someone can enjoy, if only for a passing second, as well as just improving my own craft to some zenith even if it's undefined.4891d wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 6:33 am

Totally agree about the Carmens. Billiam's and mine do feel if not look completely different. She's sort of like Barbie. Many incarnations of one beauty. "There are many like her, but this one is mine."
Aw, it's immensely appreciated Alottahope. You have no idea. I'd be such a liar if I didn't say you were a big influence. I'm grateful I get to say so here without being lost in the chorus of people that enjoy your work.Alottahope wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 6:45 am Yes sir! This thread has some great variety! Love it! So much playful beauty in one place!
I did post a lot of these pictures on Twitter before. However it shares a similar problem. Possibly even more so because you "compete" with the international doll community. Not a terrible lot of spoken feedback/conversation, you need a picture for attention. Which is a shame. But if you like doll pictures/art? Good lord, there's dozens of photographers and artists, popular and not-so, of immense talent that TDFers should check out outside of here. It's crazy. When there's something new to post I'm just going to post on all three. It's really not that hard to post on them all. I can keep it convenient for most people. I just lament the fragmentation of the community. It's actually pretty bad even within platforms for some reason.

I think that TDF brings together a lot of different people and dolls.
I follow threads with high end silicone dolls, others with entry level TPE dolls, even inflatable dolls. I follow threads with pure photography, others with mostly text, dealing with psychological issues, doll repair, fiction... Some threads are very focused on the sexual aspect of dolls (and their famous LHP ), others not at all. And all this cohabits pleasantly on the forum.
Of course, we can't see everything, because of the lack of time, which means that after a while we tend to stick to the threads we already follow. But by going to 'Recent dolls post' from time to time, I make discoveries that interest me. That's what I like about TDF.

This is something we discussed on the UK forum also; it's a much smaller forum, but even then there is so much content, such varied tastes, and even in a small country like the UK such varied cultural backgrounds, that it's impossible to please every one all the time. The way I feel is best is to do it because you love it and if anyone else loves it too, great; if not, you had fun making it.

This photo is one of my favorites of all time about Carmen's head. BTW, her boobs look bigger than other same girls, must be the lights, well done.madamsynthetique wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 2:13 pm
Absolutely. Can sometimes lead to some unpleasant interactions, but most are none the wiser. I'll post some reactions eventually.

Love this thread, from that first, heart-stopping pair of photos (so simply gorgeous, that doll...), right down to your comment here, which I really appreciated since I feel much the same.madamsynthetique wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 3:08 am I'm not really going anywhere... I think there's something of a problem in the doll community where there's so many doll pictures that people tend to smother each other's effort. I'm guilty of it and some toes might've been stepped on in the process. If so, I apologize. It's a good problem to have, but there's a vast amount of stuff that goes unnoticed. It's a driving force for people leaving either to social media or in general. Which leads to fractured community we currently have.
That and I kind of wish there was more dialogue, but I'm probably in the wrong place for that. I guess I'm not sure who'd appreciate it or not. Being ignored kind of stings for anyone.
Meanwhile, when I do post a picture/set it'll have a lot more effort behind it. The list of ideas I have are just going to take more time on average. The compulsion to have something to post is rather strong. So much so I feel a little guilty about not having something in this post. But I'm just stopping to smell the roses for a bit and look around for now. Be the change you want to see, right? I appreciate the kind words more than you'll ever know, guys.
It's a problem with the old-school forum FIFO posting style I guess... but I'm glad I discovered your thread in all the noise

Oh, just she's loosening up a little before the show. Nerves and all. I can't judge...
You're awesome, Michaelangelo. I'm glad someone could relate with some of my ravings. Case in point, I regret having missed Miranda till now. The warmth and affection from that thread is infectious. Subscribed.Michaelangelo wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 1:05 pm

Thanks! ... And you're close. Red hot. Might get a little more specific than that, though...
I like that her shirt's a little big. Of course that wasn't really intentional... But it did add a layer of cuteness. I think I fussed enough pinching it in the right places so it didn't look too ridiculous, but didn't matter too much for what I was really going for...
