Part 1 The Box Opening
Part 1 is the obligatory box opening shots with commentary on packaging, features, content inventory, and such; pretty standard stuff. You can skip ahead to Part 2 and Oriyuki’s first mini photo shoot if you find this stuff boring.
It’s a double walled corrugated card board box, suitable for the rigors of global air travel and handling. The box shows signs of a little rough handling as expected, but with a weight of under 27 pounds (12.02 kg) it was more than sufficient to protect the contents. Oriyuki’s head and body shipped separately via different shippers, her body arriving two days later than the much smaller head. The body’s box showed no signs of having been opened by customs. Her head’s box had an added sticker that indicated it had been scanned by x-rays. I would love to see those images!
My apologies to Oriyuki if she is feeling a little off upon her arrival.
Look! Lots of white ethafoam sheeting! Elsa Babe doesn’t use a one piece molded foam interior but they are more than generous with the amount of packing used. Mostly.
And that’s how it looks under the cover sheets. Almost everything firmly secured. My one package beef is that more padding could be used on top of the shoulders between the shoulders and the box; a pair of good solid blocks on either side of the neck. When Oriyuki arrived her neck was bent over to her right at about a 70 degree angle as if the box was stood up on that end and her body shifted and mash the neck over. I immediately straightened the neck to the proper angle and the silicone and skeleton appears to have suffered no damage, Whew!
Here’s the contents laid out for inventory: 102cm body with large bust and standing feet, doll stand, cleaning kit, underwear package, random outfit (she didn’t come with the dress shown on her web page but a dress similar to the sailor style dress of Mikami Rena), and a second article of clothing. Part of the promotion I ordered her under included a silicone masterbator, which I ask them not to send. Elsa Babe offered to substitute another outfit instead. Cool!
And the final reason/feature that pushed me over the edge for this purchase; the included saddle stand (some assembly required). The stand consists of a metal plate base and two sleeved metal tubes, one that has the “saddle” attached and the other gets bolted to the base. The doll “sits” on sort of a bicycle seat like thing, which partially supports her weight and along with her feet, provides three points of contact. Stands of this type have been a mainstay of 1/3 scale ball joint bolls for decades.
Unfortunately my stand came broken. The nut shown in the picture was supposed to be welded to the small disk on the inside of the attached tube. You can see the four spot welds that were supposed to attach the disk to the four corner “nubs” on the nut. Instead of being attached, the nut was rattling around inside of the tube. With this nut not being attached inside, assembly of the stand was going to be challenging.
Some creative problem solving later and the stand was assembled. As it turns out this stand is sized for their larger (148cm and larger) dolls. At the stand’s minimum height the 102cm’s feet are about 6” off of the base and the saddle won’t hold the doll by itself. It requires the feet be touching the base to properly balance the doll. I’m hoping this can be remedied by shortening the upper tube so it goes farther into the lower tube. This operation will have to wait for another day when I can get into my workplace where we have the proper tools to do the metal cutting needed. Still, this stand is a great thing and can be used as is with my other larger girls.
Elsa Babe, like their 102cm owners, is still struggling with clothing for the 102cm. Finding “off the shelf” garments that fit that don’t look like they are styled for a 2 year old is a challenge at best. The lacey panties that came with Oriyuki are probably the same ones used for the 148/150cm dolls.
The side ties can be retied to a more suitable waist size. However, the rest of the panty is too big and from the rear it appears she may have dropped a duce in them (unflattering fetish shot not shown). I have found a 3 pack of Fruit of the Loom cotton bikini briefs that while not as sexy as the lace panties, do fit the 102cm.
All rants aside, this leads up to the finally assembled doll.
Ain’t she a beauty! The 102cm’s are so perfectly proportioned! They don’t at all look like numerous other dolls in this size range, which look like their four limbs and torso were shortened to achieve their shorter height, leaving large out of proportion heads, busts, hands, and feet. The Elsa Babe 102cm is just perfect!
Part 2 A Small Suzumiya Oriyuki Gallery
Oriyuki is shown in clothes bought for my other 102cm, Fanyael (a.k.a. Suga Tomoe). These are some of the clothes I’ve found which did not need alteration. Most have been shopped from stores on AliExpress. The tank top is size 4T from EuerDODO Store (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2251832 ... 18026qZzmf) and the leggings are size 100 from SONG Baby Store (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2251832 ... 18026qZzmf).
Even with off the shelf items compromises have to be made. The 4T tank top is loose under the bust and the waist band of the leggings is folded over four times otherwise it would run up to under her bustline. But neither garment looks at all bad.
