Building Sally
While what caused her to melt is still a mystery,
I have since cut away all the melting and compromised "meat" which has left me with two legs. Most of the goopy parts literally fell off her skeleton as I picked her out of the box.
A few minutes with the hot knife ,and what ever was still holding on was sliced off . I had no plan when I picked her up other than sheer curiosity of this "melting doll"
And then I found a hanidoll torso being sold in the for sale section.
After some negotiation, a deal was struck and this landed on my front porch. Looks like we're going to try to rebuild her.
Ok so we need a name for this project.
Any dolls in pop culture made from scraps ?
Of course! Sally skelington ,from the nightmare before Christmas!!
So this will be Sally's construction thread.
After finding time to prep a quick work area so I can start to formulate a plan,I laid out my pieces.
I tried to clean the cloth that the factory used to cover the joints with xylene but as it soaked in it pushed more jelly doll meat out so to prevent possible contamination of the new torso,I removed the fabric.
The entire exposed skeleton was cleaned and scrubbed with xylene and a brush then with a final wipe down with a linen cloth.
After the skeleton has flash dried I compared my two parts to see how well this project will work. .
The size is very very close! It also allowed me to see how much farther into the thighs I can trim down .
A few more minutes with the hot knife and I'm satisfied.
Flipping the torso over ,her breasts have always felt firm and "crunchy" and sounded hollow .
Using a pick ,I peirced into her nipple center and using my syringe, I injected air inside.
Shaking the boobs ,I can feel something inside them .
Because I always wanted to make waterboobs.
( Destroyed a doll already trying it)
I saw this hollowness as the opportunity to try it on this doll.
Using tweezers ,I reached in and begain pulling out cotton!!!
Well ,probably polyester fill like what's in cheep pillows.
But with both boobs "cotton "removed ,they are much softer and jiggly. And that's where I'm at as of this post.
Parts are being ordered to explore how to make her lubricate herself and even urinate as another member suggested.
That will be included in this build .
I'm honestly excited at how well the two parts color is so close !
Stay tuned as I update on her progress!!

Re: Building Sally
I cut off her hands and opened up her back to accept the skeleton, but did not put the skeleton in .
Because I noticed liquid leaking out of her joints in the skeleton.
It has a very faint smell of old gasoline.
And I'm beginning to wonder if that is what happened to her.
She was placed into storage with a gas can that must have leaked onto her and compromised the tpe ,a slow and steady leak could have allowed the tpe to absorb the gasoline where it found pockets in the skeleton and collected.
A very plausible theory.
And while this liquid didn't smell like it had benzene or any other element that might react with the tpe ,I didn't take any chances.
Sally's body is now hung upside down so that if anything is left in the skeleton, it can drip out before cleaning with xylene and trying again.

Re: Building Sally
I finally said screw it and jumped right in .
Yup, really wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
The juice is definitely not worth the squeeze ,but I remind myself that I'm not doing this to save money or time ,it was supposed to be a " let's see if I can do this" project.
And with that mind set I pushed forward .
It sure took a while and mistakes were made .
It's not coming out as good as I hoped but not as bad as I feared . This is where I called it a night .
The arm is what had me most worried but those were really that bad .
With the skeleton inside all the meat is under stress as I heat it and if I'm not careful it just rips open with heat .
Making more work .
Slow and steady wins the race .
There will be lots of smoothing and texturing in my future.

Re: Building Sally
She's done !!!! No no no .
I can't lie .
This project was a mistake .
I don't recommend anyone every try this .
While I did get the parts together.
It looked misshapen and horrendous.
It tested every ounce of patience I had and I spent wayyyyyyy to much time on it .
Instead of enjoying Mia, I was screwing around with this !
And after all that time and effort I wanted something to show for it ,and I was excited about the prospect of another ,lighter doll.
So I did a thing on ebay .
Meet Brandy !
I'll do a indepth thread on her later ,but I wanted to close this one up with a conclusion just in case
Anyone might have been wanting an ending.
Sorry if I let anyone down , I just hate when projects don't go as well as I envision.
