Awesome Looking Mannequins

I found this website the other day of a guy that buys used and damaged mannequins then restores them. After he is done with them they are some of the most lifelike mannequins I have ever seen. If he was in the US I would buy one.

I thought you all might enjoy seeing them too.

OMG, are those beautiful or what? If I weren't already quickly becoming a MQ fan, that would do it. I can definitely imagine displaying a few of those as the fine art they are in my home. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Unfortunately FENRISULFR, you will not see any 'silicone' dolls like that.
I'd like to have a 'silicone' doll similar to the MQ in this photo.

Silicone dolls just are not available that way and it's too bad.
Also, the mannequin faces seem (to me anyway) to be very lovely and perfect.
I mean, for one example, the eyes and eyebrows.
If you look closely at a mannequins eyes, usually they are an exquisite work of art.
Very skillfully painted in a wonderful shape, pattern and texture.
Somehow, silicone dolls usually don't quite get to that level. I don't know why.
Maybe it's the medium... silicone? Maybe fiberglass is easier to work with.
Ah... But we can have Mannequins like this!

But well, they keep those silicone dolls shorter for a good reason. A doll that long would weight much too much and would be pretty unmanageable because of that. For the same reason are most body types pretty skinny too.

txsailor37 & narcissus Thanks for sharing the mannequin links with us. I am beginning to appreciate mannequins more and more. After my candy18 arrives I will probably order a mannequin next.

Michelle does some interesting restoration and I do not know the full extent of the processes she uses. The issue that a serious collector would have is actually shown on her opening page, where you see four images showing a process of refinishing a damaged mannequin. If you only fill in missing areas on the surface, without removing the remaining paint, the refinished surface of the mannequin can eventually begin to crack - especially on Rootsteins. If you do not sand down to the base, below the paint (removing all of the old paint), you will find yourself redoing the mannequin very soon. It is a common problem with many of the mannequins. They look fine for a short time, but will eventually begin to show problems with the finish. Some refinished mannequins have had the problem resurface within a year, and these are collectors who only use mannequins for display. I did not know of this problem until I began to refinish Rootsteins and then learned, from the pros, that this is a problem not only related to Rootstein.
