New things can be off putting at 1st. Xenophobia, et, et. I know my brain will automatically question new things, distrusting some "new-fangled" technology. But here's the issue: I'm unable to navigate the site as quickly now on my phone. It's taking longer to scroll through the blocks of threads. The older format allowed me to view 12+ thread titles without having to scroll or shift my line of site 3-4 lines to read the next thread title.

But the good news is now the site looks (and apparently operates) like every other phpbb 3+ website. Conformity should help ease the next generation into the world of dolls...

It was a smart business move. The modern 3+ style will help attract new customers.

Trying to look past the obvious distaste for change, I'm not a huge fan of the changes. It seems topics are no longer coloured depending on if they are read or not, at least in my browser.

In fact everytime I logged in I had a thought about sending a request to help redesign the UI.

Don't you think it's to soon to have a vote like this? Why not give it a week or so. You may find things you like compared to the old site.

FYI - A main reason for this switch is TDF is now mobile (Cell phone) friendly

We all read, write, work, use our data, devices, phones, computers, all OS', left to right, all data structure trees we use are on the left FOR THAT REASON. - a lot of that has been left untouched here and will work ok still - the primary info they moved to the right (post authorship and attendant profile data) on posts will be painful - Now you must scan both sides of the page for the top level info AND it's counter intuitive to root data trees that exist on the rest of the dir pages.

Add the flip of half of the nav bar (the bread crumbs are still on the left side and stay sound - and prove my point) but the "quick links" and control panel are on the wrong side: all websites, online accounts, data top level structures are positioned on the left - I get most phone users are right handed for the user control access links, but if this mixmash stays, it will be painful outside of responsive use.

Change for change sake is one thing, change to solve problems is another, this site is going to be slow to adapt to because it's trying to do 2 things that can't co-exist in this way. You could do it with a WP or similar site type migration, but not on top of what's already been here.

Edit: I just spoke with someone who said now the mobile responsive version is much better - In that case, if the site is being modified with that in mind (a responsive site which formats pages automatically to the small phone screen sizes), Tried it myself - cool -

The responsive site needs to be separated from the original site - you guys had such a stable platform too - it was really quite well structured, designed and built - even more so impressive especially considering its size - but you can't do both in one here - maybe beta the responsive and find it another domain or sub domain for permanent residence - doing the backside data share will be a task for sure, but this new site is going to be uncomfortable for regular computer/tablet users.

Perhaps the changes could have been implemented subtly and over a period of time to allow users to adapt........................the abrupt changes are definitely a turn off for us...................humans typically adapt very quickly..................it's why we are at the top of the food chain..................we'll all get over this..........and we will help each other................cause we are just that kind of group!!!

.....................we definitely applaud the changes.................just wish they were introduced a little differently......................the new format seems to resemble the UKLDF ........................part of the reason we no longer participate in their forum is the different structure to the former TDF.................

oh.................new interface...............but no update to the emojji's.....................really??!.................hopefully they are working on it and will create some that blow our minds in an amazing way!!!

Indeed. If they were to correct just that one thing, I think the other changes would be much more palatable.

Not to say some of the new features aren't cool - the notifications of activity is cool - bring your own emoji's is cool, but only for responsive??

It's not all bad, it's just.........a work in progress.

A new function/ability/benefit that would be cool too: it would be nice to trim the primary ego post lists to cull them to stuff you want to see and delete the rest (stuff you haven't looked at since you posted that one time, or things you just don't want to see again for whatever reason, kinda thing) -

So there's my 4 cents

and put the smilies back on the left too plz.

I don't like it at all. Granted I'm the type of person who doesn't like changes in general but I'm definitely finding this new format difficult to read for some reason. Maybe it's just me, but it bothers my eyes and I feel like I will get a headache if stay on too long.
I really hate to say that as I know the staff put a lot of work into this upgrade and I'm sure it will make some things better for certain users.
But for me it will certainly take a bit of getting used to. I just hope that I CAN get used to it.
