I never met Don or Jim, but I greatly admire the Ruby 13 dolls and Don's earlier artwork. Even before I read that he drew and painted for motorcycle magazines, I sort of imagined Don as someone you would inevitably come across if you went on a motorcycle ride across the USA. I guess I am thinking of Robert Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

Allow me to offer my deepest condolences as well.

I'll always lament that I never got to meet Don in person, but at least I did get to talk to him on the phone a couple of times as well as having the chance to enjoy one of his dolls (however briefly).

He was not only a great artist, but an all-around great person, and I will certainly miss him.

This is terrible news. This makes my heart absolutely ache. Can we give you anything? I want to do something, send flowers or write in a card, anything to show my appreciate for his work and the kindness he showed? It's something like this to make me feel so dissociative and unhuman behind a screen.

We're so sorry to hear this very sad news

and both Dave and myself send our deepest sympathy to you and the family. Don was a really nice guy and both Dave and I often spoke to him on the phone.

He was a very talented artist and doll creator, whom will be greatly missed by all. Our prayers go out to you Brash and your family.

I guess we can all take some solace in that his creations will live on.

So very sorry to hear this. Don was such a nice guy. He made me feel like I had known him forever when I talked to him on the phone the very first time. His honesty and his commitment to excellent customer service was second to none. He was always quick to handle my concerns even if it was at his expense.
My only regret was never getting to meet him. This forum won't be the same without his kind words. I know I miss him already.

This is a great sorrow and you have my sympathy. I've always admired Mr. Don's ability to take his idea and transform it into a reality that all could appreciate. An inspiration.

Sadly, I did not get a chance to meet Don, but am an admirer of his work, both on page and in sculpt. He will be sorely missed for more than just his artwork, it is very clear that he touched a great many people.

Brash, your family and friends are in our thoughts, and we are deeply sorry for your loss.

I was shocked and saddened by this . I am honored to met Don several time and considered him a friend. My condolencences go out to you Jim and your family.
