CapFX35 wrote: Wed Jan 18, 2023 7:37 pm I went to IKEA today and brought this to see if I can make a pop up tent to heat a doll. It was 14 dollars. My doll will be 171cm but this closet tent is a lot shorter. If anyone has a better idea for a tent like fabric and it reflect heat inside the tent like a 3D printer enclosure, I would love to hear about it. Looking for something narrow to fit in the back of my closet. Still trying to think how to not over heat inside the tent like a thermal switch off.

But yea it looks like this.

cool (or hot) idea, thanks! 8) So this is the storage position and then move it to the "action scene"? Think heat reflecting material is rather secondary, as long as the warm air gets nicely isolated inside. If this tent is too short for your gal you could maybe make a head opening. Something flexible that prevents any warm air escape. Or simply take off head and place it into the tent seperately. If it´s quick head connector it shouldn´t give extra hassles.

As for safety and temperature control one could likely built something oneself. Combining a programmable temperature sensor then combining it with a switch off device. Otherwise if the warm air intake remains at acceptable temperatures (40 to 60 degrees maybe) then I´d have rather little concerns for overheating. Also a small air outlet would be advisable I think. But only if any such tent construction remains perfectly sealed IMO. In any case.... do at own risk and put safety at top! Noone else but the doll user can take responsibility for selfmade constructions. 8) :glou:

I measure the height of the tent/closet it's about 59.5 inches I believe that is 157cm and it is rather close to the height of the doll if I take the head off actually. As for action to storage, I do have a gel rear, so I will have to hang her on a closet rod and the tent is just for heating her up. I was also looking for any pop up closet with a rack that will fit my closet area, but I could fit any. Something narrow and within 20inches wide to fit in the corner of my closet to hide the doll.

So far this is the cheapest and easiest tent I could find. I thought of using a portable shower tent they sell on Amazon as well, but the overall area at the bottom is too big as like the the current tent/closet in the picture. I did test it with a small and cheap space heater and it got up to 90F. It took maybe 10mins. I don't actually have my doll to test it yet since it hasn't arrive.

But yea i am trying to see if I can use what I have already for the heater and wifi maybe to self turn on to maintain to 90 or 85F and not just keep heating to 100F.
Thanks! That sounds like a good plan for checking it all out. 8) Tent material criteria also should likely be that it´s heat resistant materials, or at least knowing where´s limits.

Btw, what´s the gun in the pic? Airsoft I guess? I´m still looking for something suited doll size (my 155cm is rather petite) and not looking like a cheap kids toy. :D :glou:
I also intent to have reflective insulation inside the tent to make the heating more effective. I saw it in another post someone had put the reflective surrounding the closet corner and use a heater as well.

Oh yea that is an Airsoft model, but the one behind it is the real model of the Kriss Vector. -wink wink-

(Hey doll, why are you spending so much time in the bathroom ?)
I don't plan on turning it on and leaving the heating process unattended. I don't think having the tent in the bathroom would be an good idea either. I would have an thermal control plug for temperature control

If your going to warm them up a lot suggest you oil them more as well as it must dry them out faster. Girls do like thier massages.

Oh really? I thought Full Silicone doesn't need oil as like TPE does.

This is what I meant by having reflective insulation within the tent. Hopefully this will maintain the heat longer and once the temperature reaches to 90 or 88F my switch will turn off the mini heater. I also have the reflective so it can contain the heat from escaping and not overheat my small room as well. If all goes well, everything I ordered will come this weekend and I can actually test how this IKEA closet can be a heated tent. Just waiting for my thermal switch and my doll to actually come this weekend.

Hm... of course if you could afford the likely increased energy costs which ATM is of concern in various countries. Thus I´d consider it bits of inefficient and carrying a doll between different locations is not for everyone. Unless you bang your doll in the bathroom of course. :D But everything at least is worth a test. :glou:

Wow! That´s an impressive cadence for a "toy" like that! 8O I don´t want stepping into the LOF of that "pocket MG42" sort of! :D

Looking good so far! 8) Looking forward to your test reports then! :glou:

Uuh....I personally wouldn´t recommend doing something like that. Neither TPE nor silicone. Most recent doll materials don´t need any oiling at all and using freshly oiled doll in a heating environment could be dangerous as well. Also warmed/heated oil (remains) could likely contaminate any warming up construction. So be very careful with anything like that :!: (Any) Oiling and massaging is better left for after warming up (or long before) :D :glou:

and if you dont want to play with dolls anymore you can add a lamp and grow a few plants of cannabis (if legally allowed in your juridiction - conditions may apply ;)

Good stuff. Been looking into how to safely warm my TPE doll when she arrives. Nights are cold right now!
I apologise for any late responses to users trying to communicate with me, as a certain Mod has decided he doesn't like how I talked in a particular post then decided to restrict me so I can post nothing without his permission. If I am banned for good, then best wishes to those I, and Aran, have met. May your futures with your dolls be good ones.

I tested the tent and it works. As you can see, the temperature reading from putting her in the tent to taking her out. I left in in the tent for maybe about 10 mins or less. I did had to increase the temperature in the ten from 88 to 90 to 95 to 96F as I was read a slowing heat increase. The reading is all from the little white remote that set the desire temperature in the tent, that is how the heater will know when to turn off. I did also read the mini heater outputting about 175F. Yes, that is hot, but I am hot directly heating the doll to her skin. Heat rises. that you can see the lower portion is cooler than the top like the breast and the chest. I was going to have her sit in the little chair, but I realize she was very hard to even stand or knee down. If only I can custom make a tent or buy a custom one. Still cannot beat 14 dollars from IKEA.
.
I think if she was left in the tent longer she will be at 98F and be close to touching a human skin warmth, but not hot like form the microwave. In the pictures, I think get a air mattress just to play with her once she is heated up. :D :D

Hehe... playtime, before she cools down again. :D What´s overall cost in material and energy (if it can be calculated) for this interesting tech solution? :glou:

I have this heater but I found it at the clearance section during summer for $3. I'll count it as $15

DIGITEN Temperature Controller WTC100 Wireless Thermostat Outlet Temperature Controlled Outlet Programmable Thermostat Controller Wireless Thermostat with Remote Sensor Greenhouse Thermostat https://a.co/d/ab4K9Vt

Thermal remote $25.99

Everbilt 16 in. x 25 ft. Double Reflective Insulation
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-16 ... /307281310
SKU# 307281310

This is the sizing roll I got and I have some left

https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/vuku-wardr ... -80331973/

This is the wardrobe/tent I used.

These are the necessary components to have it working. You can also get away with not using the the reflective insulation. Overall, with the items listed above is $75.95.

Depending if you don't use the reflective it be $55.98 and if you find a really low clearance small heater, even better!

Very nice solution. The insulation sheets worked well.
Another option might be those thin "space blankets" also used as emergency blankets and such. They are inexpensive metalized Mylar that reflect heat.
The final tent is a good way to safely heat your doll that is inexpensive.
Nice.
